i am trying to use L298 ic for controled energizing of electromagnet in my project.in the citcuit i am getting required in puts at required pins but not getting any output.
i am using Vs=12V.
can L298 get burned out during soldering
how do i know that it is burned out

I just looked at the datasheet for a L298. Yes soldering could burn it out, but first I would check that you have enabled all the enable pins with 5 volts. Also if you set the input pins both logic 0 or logic one then you will get no current flow as they will be driving both outputs either low or high together. You must drive them as 0 for one and 1 for the other to get a voltage across your device.
