But this would get us nowhere, how can we not share something that is so big in our lives? How can we not share something that brings peace to our lives? How can we not share something that we know in our hearts is real?

2006-08-03 04:53:54 · update #1

No.....you can SHARE your religion just dont try to convince others that YOUR religion is the only one.
This is a contradiction because how can there be more than one God?

But if you think you have found the truth in Islam, Hinduism, in Hiip-Hop (<- it is a religion I didn't know that until this week), in Catholocism, in Christianity, in not believing in anything (Agnostic) or being Atheist or the many religions that are out there if you think you have found the truth wouldn't you want to share it?

It is our commandment from God the Father to "seek and save the lost", but as far as our religion, per se, it is best to share the glory and joy that we receive from that religion.

If you are at peace and feel joy from worship, share it with others who are living without. If you have overcome adversity and turmoil, sing to the heavens in praise!

By all means share the joy of your religion, modestly, giving glory to the Lord. Be humble and modest, so as to share your joy and not force your beliefs to anyone. That is harder to recover than being silent.

Luke 9
26If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Religion is personal thing.

Some religions have the tenant to go forrth and spread out to as many people as possible. OK. But I feel what some people don't understand is that others may not feel like their religion fits them. So when somebody disagrees or rejects the other religion, that first person should move on and not make such a big deal of it.

The worst thing is when people wear the religion on their sleeve.

I believe people should share their religion with other people. This way you can find like-minded people to hang with. The sharing is not the problem. It's the judgement.

We should be more tolerant of each other's choices. If everyone were the same this world would be boring. Differences make life interesting!!

If there is a message to be spread to others that should be it.

No but neither do I feel that we need a neon sign to proclaim our religions. My religion is the only way of life that I know. It is a part of me. My family, friends and co-workers are aware that I am religious. If they ask a question, I am more than happy to answer it. I have found that if people don't ask, they generally don't have a desire to know.

When they do ask, I answer in an informative way rather than a "My way is the one and only truth" way. Since I am not being offensive or pushy, if they are still curious they will ask more. If not that's okay with me. I really don't care if people believe what I believe.

Just as it is impossible for you to believe that there are multiple deities, it is equally impossible for me to conceive of only one deity. I simply can't imagine only one god with only one "true" way to worship. This is why I don't feel the need to proselytize. I feel that people have their own paths to follow and it isn't up to me to determine what is right for them. I happily live and let live.

Surely I do. But I never been under impression that my religion - Hindu - is supreme and teaching of this religion supercedes all other.....No, certainly not; because I admire the teaching of every other religion. But also I do not believe in "forced" conversion from one religion to another. If one gets impression of and about a particular religion then it must be his own decision only whether to become disciple of that religion renouncing his own. And morever why should he be allowed to renounce his forefathers belief in their own as he simply can follow the lord's orders or preaching in whatever field he works.

In this way, I think it will be proper to follow one's religion respecting others too.

Yes, you should keep your religious beliefs to yourself because everyone is entitled to believe what they want ans not be harassed by others that dont share the same beliefs. You can still feel the love and peace in your heart and go to church and share with people that you know have the same beliefs.

Absolutely! As an Atheist, I always keep my opinion to myself. The only time I don't is answering ridiculous questions on this forum.

What is it about Americans and their fu*ked up religions that they need to shove it down out throats! From mormons, J.W.'s, and those other christ-based B.S. religions that have to have it printed on money, in courtrooms, knocking on doors pushing their crap, an the radio, TV, bumper stickers, etc. If their religions are so fu*king good, why do they have to sell it so friggin' hard? If it was so truthful, honest, accurate, and enticing, I would be drawn to it. But since I can't turn around without seeing the words g0d and j3sus and those other names in my face, I grow to absolutely despise and loathe it. Get it out of schools, out of our government, out of my face, and leave my house alone, and I'll support whatever you want. So long as you ram it up my a55 trying to force me to live it, I'll fight tooth-and-nail to stay away.

I work with East Indians and not only do they keep their religion to themselves, they don't want you in it! I have so much respect for that. They (think) have the best thing going for them and want to keep it for themselves and keep everyone else out.

Religion and faith are very personal subjects. If someone inquires about your feelings on the subject, by all means share them. People need to understand though that since the subject is a very personal one, for some people talking about it is just as uncomfortable as talking about sex, or maybe even personal health issues. Unless someone asks you specifically about your faith, I think it is better kept to yourself.

I think religion is a personal thing. If someone is proselytizing because that is what their religion teaches, that should be respected. The flip side, if they are asked to stop, the rights of the person asking should also be respected.

If religion is what any body believes in, then he should keep it to himself. All religions lead to Hell not to Heaven. All those who follow ceremonial practice or do certain rituals in a routine worship, are mislead and do not know Christ. Faith is not based upon believing in God and because of that you worship him by following certain ceremonial acts. Faith that is acceptable to God requires that believers of the One true God(God of Love) accept what God did for them, namely believing that God has sent His only Son Jesus Christ to the world and offered him as an everlasting sacrifice for all humanity so their sins are forgiven and they have no need to follow routine and certain rituals any more to worship God. The Bible simply states that he who has the Son has the Father God; and he who doesn't have the Son of God doesn't know God. That is Faith.

Yeah, I think so. No point in sharing if you are only going to be judgemental. Believe what you wish and live your life to show it. But don't expect the next person to be like you.
