And I wonder what you gain by hating anything? Once you begin to excercise the ability to hate, does it not open the flood gates to hating other things as well? Wouldn't it be more effective to be indifferent to sin?

Indifference would then lead to more indifferance by that logic, right? Then we would become indifferent to the suffering of others. Then indifference would infect every part of our lives...then how would we have compassion, joy or love?

Sure hating sin can be confused with hating the sinner. But that is just plain wrong and people will be wrong. We cannot force a perfect world by turning all into indifferent drones or robots. The good Lord decided to give us brains, feelings, emotions and free will. Does that cause pain? At times. Sadly, then there would be no such thing as joy. At least that is going by the logic that hate of something leads to hate of persons. Then indifference of something, idea, will lead to indifference to persons.

And I am sorry, I love the Lord too much not to hate sin....my own sin the most. That is the key. We should look at ourselves first.

I don't know what you are in reference to but I do know the only sin that has ever been and will ever be is disobedience to God.I don't know
why people can't see this,John the Baptist said
Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the
sin of the world.John did not says sins.
When the first Adam failed it was because of the knowledge of good and evil, before that they had no knowledge of good and evil only to obey God and all things were for them.
You are right on the flood gates it is enough to be thankful for the day in any situation, because all things work together to good to those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.

Why do you have a problem with hating evil?
Would you feel better if it was a strong dislike for evil?
Are you angry or do you just hate Christians?
Everyone of your questions is about sin, and Christians in a very negative way. Are you seeking peace? I would love to help you find it. Or would you rather twist Gods truth to lies and be angry?
Why not turn away from that anger and hate and seek love and forgiveness? It is there for you, you have but to seek and ask.

The subject of indifference to sin does not change the fact that it is prevelant in this world today as it has always been since the fall. As christians, we are instructed to hate sin, not the sinner. We are all sinners, yes even christians. Christians are just forgiven, not perfect.

Yes, once you allow yourself to hate it opens the doorway to the ability to hate other things. I think the word indifferent is perhaps a bit better word (but it isn't really catchy for slogans which is probably why the word hate was used instead).

Christians do not "hate" sin....you would be closer if you said we fear it....we consider sin like nuclear waste. We don't hate it....but keep it away from me!

Hope that helps,
