No, a relatively small-ish woman (which is what I assume that you are) cannot lose that amount of FAT in 12 days.

But you could possibly severely dehydrate yourself and lose almost that much in water weight (that is, IF you're already retaining too much water). But why would you want to do that? It'd be only temporary, and you'd make yourself sick in the process.

I know that you don't want a "lecture," but this kind of mindset is silly. Weight is just a number on a scale. You want to lose excess FAT, not lower a number on a scale. You want to lose INCHES, not pounds. Losing FAT takes some time and effort--not gimmicks. The best way to start is to GET OFF OF THE COMPUTER, go out and get some exercise!

====

Here is the straight poop:
(NOTE: When a food label talks about "calories," they're really talking about kilo-calories, or kcals. When I write, below, about kcals, that's what I'm talking about.)
In order to lose one pound of fat, you need to have a caloric deficit of 3500 kcals. That means that you must burn up 3500 kilo-calories more than you eat for every pound of fat that you want to lose. (That's why the best way to lose weight is a combination of eating less and exercising more.)
But every three pounds of fatty tissue on your body also carries about two pounds of water. So you'll be automatically releasing excess water weight when you lose fatty tissue. In other words, you need a 3500kcal deficit to lose one pound of FAT, but this translates to three pounds of WEIGHT on your scale.

If you're 5'8" tall, then you should weigh around 140-150 pounds to be a "normal" and a healthy weight, and less (15-20 pounds less) if you want to be slender. (--Even less if you want to look like a model--but that's really not healthy for most people.) So figure on losing about 25 pounds for now, and then see if you're happy with that.

Plan on a permanent lifestyle change--not a drastic program that you cannot keep up--because that only leads to weight rebound and ADDITIONAL WEIGHT GAIN! Plan on taking it off slowly--say, over a 6 month long period.

It depends on how much you weigh and how much you normally eat. if you are only 20-25 lbs over weight then the answer is no but if you are 150+ lbs over weight then it might be more likely to do but still would be very hard and likely not healthy. Losing to much weight at one time can be bad for your whole body and can even cause a heart attack. The best thing to do is have a good diet and excercise and that way you will lose a little bit of weight at a time and you will feel better for it.

Losing that much weight in such a short time period is VERY unhealthy and dangerous for the body! Among other things, you can have have an attack of gallstones in your gall bladder (this happened to a friend and she had to have the organ REMOVED).

You can also lose muscle mass, suffer hair loss, feel fatigued, mess up your sleep cycles, mess up your bowel habits, mess up your heart rhythm, or develop ketosis, which can lead to gout attacks (altho ketosis mostly happens on low-carb diets).

Experts pretty much agree that a person should never attempt to lose more than 2 to 4 pounds per week, tops. Otherwise, you're playing with fire! :( Please, please re-think your plans!

yes, but it is very unhealthy and you will probably gain the weight right back. especially if you do not have a plan to keep exercising and eating healthy after the weight loss. I had a friend who lost about 15-20 lbs. in two weeks.

No. It is not possible unless you completely stopped eating. 1lb of weight = 3600 calories approx.

Loosing soo much weight in such short time is sure way to screw up internal organs of your body because they will be pushed to their limits.

Aim for 20-25 lbs loss over a period of 3 months. That may be more realistic and alot healthier.

It is possible, but it isn't healthy for a 'normal' person to lose more than 5 pounds in a week.

The only exception to that is if you are EXTREMELY over-weight. So if you are like 90 pounds over weight, then you go ahead and try to lose that 10 pounds in a week.

EXTREMELY unlikely, and certainly so rapid a weight loss would be dangerously unhealthy. The recommended rate for weight loss is 2-3 pounds per week, maximum.

no, that is too extreme

a reasonable amount of weight to lose is 3 to 5 pounds per week

otherwise you risk losing muscle mass, organ functions, etc.
