Okay, what do I have to do to convince my family that I am not just being lazy, that i have something low in my blood to make me feel weak...
a few months ago i had to visit the doc. because of weakness and muscle cramps and I was told I had low potassium, and that is what caused everything... I was told to keep potassium in my system.
okay, now I have it again, and my grandma says "you just too damn lazy you need to get off you ***"
I get pissed go outside and try to mow the yard...
I start getting sick as i sweat (diziness, muscle cramps and the feeling that im about to pass out)
I come in and lay on the bed... she says "try to mow the yard eh?"
i said yah i couldn't do alot because something is screwed up you aren't supposed to feel as if you are going to pass out for doing something little... she said
you just want an excuse to be lazy...... WHAT THE HELL ?!?!?!
do i have to be outside laying on the f*****g groun dead before they will believe me???

I also don't have a history of being lazy like a few weeks ago i would mow my whole yard manually because the riding lawnmower is broken... i have a BIG yard... and it was about 95º ...
and then go in and do more chores before even taking a shower to cool off....

Listen, don't let them treat you like this. Does your grandmother know what the doctor said? It's sad and pathetic that you're going to have to get a note from your doctor to give to your family. Some people are just like that, sweetie, and I'm sorry that you have to live with it. Don't wish you were dead, that's being overdramatic. You will get out of there one day and when that day comes, it will be the greatest day of your life. Trust me, you're family sounds like mine and I am so glad I don't live at home anymore.

Ok I can tell you from experience (and a trip to ER) that low potassium can be very dangerous if not taken care of properly. Have you had your heart checked out? I also have an irregular heart beat and low potassium plus that can be trouble. I also looked at e-how under "how to understand the effects of low potassium" and they mentioned what I said as well as low potassium can cause respiratory problems (muscles that aid in breathing become too weak). I am only in my 30's and have this trouble so maybe you need to get a more thorough check up. And eat/drink plenty of foods with potassium. I wish you well.

Sounds like you need a parent to go with you to the doctor and sit in on the conversation. This may be something serious like low blood sugar, diabetes, or mono. Have a sit down with them and let them know your concerns. Go back to the doctor and tell them that the potassium isn't working. Also, check your levels because if you get too much potassium in your blood the symptoms are worse than if you don't have enough.

i feel you i sometimes want to go back to bed after just waking up, but if you try to fight that feeling you will end up doing many things, think it like lifting weights, if you want to get bulk you have to lift heavy stuff, even if is too hard at the beginning, you would overcome that feeling at a point that you can ignore it.

if your doc. says you need potassium, then find out want food is rich in potassium, try to exercise even if you feel tired make day schedules, if you have a health problem then you have to life with it in a very responsible way.

about your family try to talk to them, tell them how you feel and that you want it to change but you can't by yourself, and for grandma, sometimes old people may be a little grumpy, so be patient

If you have a history of being lazy then I don't blame your family for not believing you. Get proof from your doctor about your condition and give it to your family. Don't use your condition as an excuse to get out of work or gain sympathy. Your doctor should have put you in touch with a nutritionist to discuss dietary needs and you need to follow up and follow through.

You need to stop playing the victim and feeling sorry for yourself. No one needs to believe your condition but you - do what you can to keep your potassium up and live your life without all the drama and swanning.

yes, you are lazy... lazy to take care of your health... if you know you are low on potassium, what are you contributing in your diet to increase the potassium level?

I got low calcium... my diet is full of high calcium food... it has been 5 years now and the calcium is good level now... i made an effort... i made a difference to my own health.

I know its rude... and i dont intend to hurt your emotions.. but boy... get up to your senses and start taking care of your body.

Same problem here..I have a low energy capacity...Seriously. And my parents say I'm too damn lazy too. And..well..Maybe you do have to be lying on the ground before they believe you. I know I'd have to do that to make my parents understand, haha.

My sister in law has the same condition. There's nothing you can do except maybe show her the doctors evaluation, but it sounds like your family is simply ignorant

You might want to have your blood glucose tested and beef up on the potassium.
