Is it a given that men will harrass or be tempted because they cannot control themselves around a woman, thats why they tell them to wear a veil?

NO! They wear a veil as a sign of purity and they take it off for only their families at home in private. It is a blessing to wear a veil, it shows respect of herself and respect to her husband. If a woman does not wear a veil in their country they are considered prostitutes and are given no respect.

Originally the veils were worn by many groups of people. Jews, early Europeans, Hindus, etc. One of the reasons for this was that women were prized as they are the ones who carry on the society. Many Arabs were nomads and lived in the desert. The veils were worn to protect the women from the sand as well as to not show their faces to strangers. The Muslims are just continuing it but they worked it into their religion. It is the radical Muslims like the Al-qaeda, Hezbollah, Taliban and others who are now forcing the women to wear the veil against their wishes.

No, muslims wear a veil because muslim men require it. In islam, a woman has no rights and has to listen to what their husband says. They also have no choice on their husband as they have arranged marriages. Being a muslim woman is like being a black in the us during the slave years. Anyways, muslim men like their wives to be covered up so none muslims men (specifically whites) do not see how beautifull they are and then hit on the muslim woman. If the muslim woman had the chance to be with a white guy and live free and be respected, she would leave her husband quickly which would anger the muslim man. Over time, no muslim women would marry muslim men and their race would die out. That is why muslim men require their wives to be covered up.

the moslems said that they wear veil to cover their body to prevent some bad intentions from the male.
On a second thought.. you are right.. coz that means the moslems male can not control their basic animal instinct.

if they said that's the sign of purity, then why some of them can easily took off the veil after getting divorced or eventhough they have went to Mecca and became a Haj, they dont use the veil?

I think it has to do with modesty on the part of the women and because they don't want men to have impure thoughts when seeing an inapprorpriate part of a woman.

Apparently they've never heard of the old saying "Your rights end where my nose begins."

Their impure thoughts are their problem, in my opinion, but no on asked me when deciding on the day-to-day rules of Islam.

Besides, it's not really my business. I don't think the women would appreciate it if we went in and ripped off their veils, either. Some may appreciate the liberation, but some have been raised to be very uncomfortable being exposed.

The Quran does not specifically mandate veiling, but simply speaks about modesty, respect, and the covering of the body. In fact, male modesty is more frequently referred to in the Quran then female modesty. In most Muslim societies veiling is not enforced, but a choice. It is a way for Muslims to outwardly show their devotion and respect for Islam.

Because muslim women are considered lower than muslim men. Wearing a veil makes them hide themselves and their individuality. They are objects and not humans.

I agree with Nostromo, Muslim women believe that ther bodies an object for men to satisfy their lust. In Islam a woman's body and voice is "awrah" that translates to "Shame" and it should be covered. Also, women r a tool for reproduction (this is their main mission of existancxe)

Actually I am Catholic not Muslim but I can tell you it is a modesty issue and as my Priest says about covering ones head for prayer,"That which is veiled is holy."
