In my view sience (evolution and all...) simply reenforces the wonderous complexity of creation and strengthens my faith rather than threatening it.

Why do some fundamentalists equate acceptance of verifiable observations about the way our universe works with a rejection of thier religious beliefs?

Fundamentalists believe in a "God of the Gaps" or a god that is defined by what mankind doesn't know.

Of course, even most theologists consider the fundamentalsts' concept of god to actually be insulting to god. It depicts a powerless god cowering in the shadows of mankind's knowledge, threatened by progress.

anyway, since fundamentalists have this position, they are threatened by anything that seeks to shrink what mankind doesn't understand (aka science). To them, gaining knowledge is killing god.

pretty messed up stuff, but by and large fundamentalists are the least educated members of society anyway, so who really cares?

Evolution is the exact opposite of creation science. Science supports instant creation and God.

Afraid of Science?? I don't think so! God created Science and given us many things through the knowledge of Science. That does not mean that Scientists are all knowing. God is the greatest Scientist.
