can any one suggest an ic (should be easily available) which can replace ede1144 (keypad encoder)?

I want a keypad encoder ic(one which provides a binary output, out of a matrix keypad) other than ede1144 or ede 1188.

Depend of the number of keys.
You can try the National Semiconductors 992. It caters for up to 32 keys.
Higher, your best bet is to use an Atmel 80 type processor that scans the keypad continuously.
