How? It wouldn't be a special right for gays to be able to marry someone of the same sex. Heterosexuals could do it, too.

Nothing special there.

Now, explain how I'm wrong.

You're not.

And if Marriage were about RELIGION, then atheists couldn't be "married" either.

The funny thing is gays and lesbians marry, whether religious bigots approve or not. We're not demanding special rights, we're not even demanding any kind of special treatment, but we ARE demanding two things: one the right to have our unions acknowledged, just like straight people have (and since we DO pay the same taxes, we SHOULD receive the same right) and the second thing we're really demanding is that people would just shut the heck up. I mean, c'mon...I SHOULD have the freedom to go to a church and not hear someone elses sex lives being discussed from the pulpit...if I wanted THAT, I'd rent porn.

Additionally: for those who believe that homosexuality is a sin, why is it a greater sin that receives more attention that murder or theft. Two gay people who love each other enough to WANT to get married is surely a more agreeable thing (to both man and God) than a person who decides to rob a bank or "go postal" in a crowded shopping mall. So why do we see so many protests against gay marriage, but FEW Christian protests against the right to bear arms in this country? YES, it's a Constitutional guarantee that we, as Americans have the right to bear arms, but Christians aren't fighting to amend THAT part of the Constitution and it's already a proven fact that people with guns are 100% responsible for the gun related violence in this country. So, I guess by the logic that many Christians are putting forth, it's better for two men to kill each other than it is for them to kiss. So, is this REALLY the message that "good christians" would want to send to those of us who aren't good Christians?

Personally, I would like to see marriage removed from legalese completely. I see no reason why married people need or deserve any special rights as opposed to single people.

In which case, if marriage was removed from legality altogether, the whole debate about gay marriage would be ended. Churches could marry Christians, Synagogues could marry Jews, gay people could marry at the disco, or whatever they wanted, and no one would have reason to complain.

Edit - for those of you bringing "god" and the bible into this... marriage is far older than Christianity. If you want to argue against that, go ahead. But you're simply a fool if you don't realize that. This is not a debatable fact.

Because God created Adam & Eve and they were married. He didn't create two guys and said "Okay, you're married!" He created man and woman to be married and to reproduce. And that's another reason why gay marriage is wrong. First they want to get married, then they want a family and they use the excuse "All they need is love" which is extremely wrong. It takes a man and a woman to make a baby and it takes a man and a woman to raise one. It takes a man and a woman to have a marriage as well.

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it!!
GOD allowed us to bear the sinful fruit of our actions when we forsook his word. For the 20 plus years, this world is overrun with various sexual diseases like AIDS, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis and others. This all could have been avoided if we submitted to God's instruction instead of thinking we are wiser than he is.

How many more examples do we need until we finally stop fighting against the will of GOD? The AIDS explosion in the USA, Africa and all around is our fault. The extra martial affairs, adultery,pre-martial sex, bestiality, incest, drug use and homosexual lifestyles were all abominations before the Lord.

What makes the world think if he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah once with fire and brimstone, that HE won't do it again?

God created woman to be man's helper;he did not created STEVE to be Adam's boyfriend or lover. The Lord also did not make women to hate men, except for providing sperm to make babies in a lesbian or gay relationships. God made the family to consist of a man, woman, and children;anything other that is a sin the sight of GOD. We do not break God's laws,it breaks us one way or the other. Every sin according to the Lord is the same from murder to profaning the name of God to homosexual actions. God's laws are higher those here on earth,if one laws those go against the word of the Lord, then lawmakers, judges and courts will be accountable for their sins on judgement day.

Marriage is defined by God and law as the union between 1 man and 1 woman. Allowing two men or two women to marry is making exception to man's law and breaking God's law.

Gay Marriage is not a right and should be banned. In the Bible, homosexuals were stoned to death. Think of the punishment equivalent to getting stones in modern times.

Marriage is a basic human right and gender/sexual orientation should not play a part in it.
