I am not an only child but my husband is. It is difficult! He does not understand the dynamics of sisters and brothers. When he grew up he did not have anyone to fight with. So the positive thing is that he will not fight with me when I want to. The negative thing is that he is always talking to his mom and dad. They try to visit all the time when we are newlyweds (every three weeks they stay at our house even right after our honeymoon). When he tells them that they visit to often the mom just cried and said "but you are our only child!". To my mother each one of us is her only child and seeing one doesn't make up for wanting to see the other. I want to have more than one child because I don't want my kid to feel like he is going to be left alone in this world like my husband sometimes says that he wishes he had a brother or sister so his parents would back off of him.

Positves- You get a bit more spoiled, your parents have more time for just you, you don't have to share your stuff, you don't have anyone following you around...
Negatives- if your friends are out of town it may get lonely, no one to talk to about family problems without confronting your parents...
Overall I think being an only child is a good thing but it can get lonely sometimes so try getting closer to a friend or family member. They become someone like a sibling God forgot to give you. =)

She's lonely sometimes i wish i had another child to keep her company .. Sometimes they r not use to sharing because being an only child they don't have to share toys.. etc.. hope this helps alittle

For future reference: Children are always positively charged, it makes a big difference when you are attaching them to chemistry sets to get that right
