I say go out to dinner with them and give them a card. Your first anniversary isnt as important as say your 10th or 25th, but it will show them that you care deeply about them and wish them well on the futre- as you did for them last year. They may actually enjoy the attention- but as far as gifts, since it is only the first, you dont have to go hog wild or luxurious.

I believe paper is the traditional gift for a first wedding anniversary,you could get them a fabulous book made up of all their wedding photo's and holiday snaps of before they were married and dating culminating with the wedding photos,i think that it would be a unique and thoughtful gift...

Does your brother have any hobbies than choose the gift his partner may also enjoy fit the gift to that its no need to make it exspensive.
As for other advices no animal or plants. I think money may cause problems......Happy 1st. Anniversary to your brother and partner.

Paper is traditional. Try: framing their wedding invitation, getting personal messages compiled in a book of love/advice from their family and friends, or what my husband got me for our first wedding anniversary, concert tickets.

Find out their interests, things they like doing together. It's not just your brothers anniversary, its his wifes too! And then plan something for them. Memorie books are always good, or cook them a good dinner that night, maybe his favorite meal, and invite them over. You can also invest into some cute linens for their bed. Anything really works, its your brother, just show them u appreciate them and happy they are together!

Anything that he or his wife would appreciate. A simple card and flowers would probably make him happy. don't be cheap though, or at least make it look cheap. Drop hints to him and ask him things that he's been needing. Use those certain keys to figure out what to get him. Good luck!

If you have any photos from their wedding you could make into a nice book at snapfish.com for like 20 bucks or a little book for five dollars. Its very nice and personal.

Unless they are having a party, nothing. Why would anyone, it's something they are suppose to celebrate, you just got them a gift last year.
