why do you insult him? Why would a person insult something that in their mind does not exist?

Exactly. Ya know, it's not that they don't believe in Him, it's that they don't want to believe in Him and there is a difference. They know He's real, they just don't want to admit to it. Why, I don't know.

Its not the god people are trying to insult, but they hit where it hurts the most. Religious people are not the calmest and most peaceful people around. They tend to piss everyone off with their beliefs and preaching...So some people insult god because they know that this is the best way to make religious people angry.
I am an atheist but I never insult god...I do insult fundamentals who think they believe in the right stuff and that they practice their religion in the best of ways, but in the end of the day they hate and accuse more than loving.
Also, religion is a reason for many deaths and wars, so people have one more reason to critisise it and bash it.
I dont agree with them when it comes to insulting something that doesnt exist, but as long people dont keep their beliefs to themselves and they wish to accuse and bash everyone else who doesnt agree or approve their beliefs, then I am against religion too. The world would have been such a better place without any gods and objects to worship. Period.

I insult only those who believe in him because I think it's so obvious that he doesn't exist, and I've never insulted god or whatever

I don't insult any god(s), nor do I believe in them. I try not to insult the people the believe in these god(s), but when they get in the way of my daily life, I need to make comments in regards to people's beliefs. You can lead your life however you choose, but when your beliefs are pushed onto me, that's when it's time to make a statement. Christianity, in general, is difficult to avoid. You turn on the tv, radio, get junk mail, people knock on your door, billboards, etc. Do atheist's resort to this??? Nope.....you would be very pissed too if this were the case.

I have no idea why atheists do not want others to worship as they please, but the Christians and Muslims don't either. I do not believe a God of a superman sitting on a heavenly throne, but in nature.
