I'm about to my my very first house. My husband and I want to pick some nice colors to paint several rooms with, but we're having a hard time visualizing them. Is there a website out there that you can build your living room, and try out different colors for your wall?

I always recommend to my customer that they choose the furnishings and accessory's first then coordinate with those. For example...if you have a forest green living room suite you may wish a wall color in the yellow family such as a butter cream or peach. If you have dark wood floors you my want some sort of light beige. In all the common areas I recommend a neutral color such as white dove or linen white. Except in kitchens and baths I paint all ceilings with Benjamin Moore's muresco flat white. It covers beautifully and touches up better then all others. Keep the trim colors the same throughout.

Try www.behr.com it lets you see the colors on walls in different types of rooms. I think when choosing a color, it is most easily done by deciding your style. A modern home has different colors than a country home. The best idea is to find some items you own, that you absolutely love, and take the colors in them and put them on the walls. Tape paint swatches all over, and wait a couple days! Use the colors that you decide you can live with! Have fun, you can always repaint! Research how certain colors make you feel! I know green is calming, so that would be nice in a bedroom or living room!

I recommend the benjamin moore website. they have a color visualizer tool. I have used it many times. For a small fee you can download the software, upload a picture of your living room, and try out colors. It is a little time consuming to block out the color areas on photo. But it is well worth it.
