Suggest that he take them to the library. He's got to run with them out to the air-conditioned car, then run with them into the libary building, but they can find lots to do together in there. How lucky you are to have your hubby home today-I wish mine were here to take the kiddos to the library.

Play games inside the house.. or you could take them bowling. My children enjoy doing both. There are always movie matinees. They are inexpensive and air conditioned too. As for bowling, yes they have bowling balls for young children. My son went bowling for the first time when he was 2. They have bumpers they can put up for the kids, so that they can actually watch the pins fall instead of the ball rolling down the gutter. I live in central Louisiana, so I know all about heat!

You can make a tent inside. Get a big sheet and drape it over a box fan. Hold the edges down with books and turn on the fan.
The kids will love it and it will keep them cool.

Make popsicles or milkshakes or something like that. Watch some disney movies, play with some toys, make some space mud - whatever. Kids are very easily entertained, anything is fine.

Keep them inside the house,
give them an icepop,
they'll get a kick out of it.
And let them watch a movie.

I use to work at a daycare and one activity that we would do it put shaving cream on the table and let them draw with it, like finger painting. They love it!!

Color, draw, play hide and seek, read books, fingerpaint, Playdoh, toys in general (do you have one that they can ride on?), little chores around the house (pick up toys, laundry, feed your animal if you have one, etc.)
