We have an almost 4 year old male orange cat and a not even 1 year old black female cat. The black cat keeps getting little white worms that are probably only 2 cm. long. They kind of look like baby slugs because at one end, they have a "slug-like shapped end" with the little antenna things.

Our cats go in the basement because their litter box is down there. We have a lot of slugs outside. Anyone know what these wormy things are!?

Sounds like maggots to me. Are your cats feasting on a dead animal when you are not looking? Give them a bath/thorough grooming and spray them with an insecticide. Search your basement for a dead animal

They are common worms almost all cats gets. Nothing to freak out about or go off half ******. They are just worms. YOu can treat the over the counter but to be honest that is not all the great. Take you cat to the vet for a check up and mention the worms to him and he will give you something for them and it is not that costly. Also something to do. Go out and buy a new litter box. Throw the old one away. Move you litter box out of the dampy basement. Buy clumpable litter and clean the box daily and do a complete litter change every 3 or 4 days. It will help with the infestation of the worms. Don't freak out and don't get rid of your cat because of this. IT IS VERY COMMON!!!! Even the show cats get worms. If the problem continues you might want to change their diet and please dont give your cat milk

You did not say how till now you receive the cat from the look after. If it changed into those days, then i could ask your self why they hadn't wormed the kitty. danger are that all of them 3 could have them and should be dealt with. there are assorted worms and the remedies variety besides. you may want to take pattern to the vet as a way to ascertain which computer virus it truly is and get the right drugs on account that maximum offered over the counter aren't any further as affective. reliable success

If you see the worms around the cats butt and they look like tiny grains of rice, then its tapeworm. I've seen those before and its easily treated. If its all over the cat's fur, then I don't know what it could be. It might be maggots from a mouse carcass that the cat has hidden in the basement. I understand that you want to get some idea of what it is before you go to the vet. I don't know why some people get so bent out of shape and their only response is ASK THE VET.

Yeah your cat probably has worms. They are parasites that live in the stomach and intestines of cats and dogs. Some types of worms can be dealt with by going to the pet store and getting some deworming medication. However it is often hard to tell which kind of worm is which, and for heavy infestations you can't cure it on your own. You should take both of them to the vet. Get them treated and make sure you keep their litter, bedding, and anywhere else the spend allot of time clean since it's so easy for them to get re infested.

I can't tell you what it is but I can say the guy who said it's aids is a total jerk. I actually had a cat with aids, or FIV, and I can definitely tell you that it is NOT that. You might find that it's nothing serious, and that you just need to bring the litter box up into your house or on your porch or something, there might just be some sort of nest of those worms down there in the litter box, and the cats get them on them. I'm sorry I can't tell you what it is, just what it isn't.

TAKE THE CAT, ALL PETS, TO THE VET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can't afford the vet, you have NOOOOO business having a pet whatsoever. That goes for everybody. Pets have to have regular vet visits for shots, WORM pills, hope you caught that, and flea drops. If you can't afford the vet, I strongly advise, insist that you give the cat to someone who can. You can't sell it since you've already let the poor cat become riddled with worms. POOR CAT!!!!!!! The cat can't take care of itself, it's your responsibility, what if you're child was riddled with worms, would you just get online and ask what the worms were? Of course not, you'd rush the kid to the ER and be a total nervous mess worrying about your kid. If you think, oh it's just a stupid cat, then aren't you eternally grateful you weren't born a cat. They can feel pain just exactly as a human, even if they aren't considered as important as a human.

I did not understand your question.. Are the worm things ON the cat or coming out of the cat? If they are ON the cat, they are probably laying down and these are larvae that are in the basement.

first of all, why do you keep their litter box in the basement? God knows what could be down there. second of all, why are you asking us what the worms could be.? we can't physically see your cats so we can't correctly diagnose them. many of us ARE NOT certified vets!!!!!!!!! you're even clueless as to what those things are, you just classify them as "WORMY THINGS"!!!!!!!!! GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND GO TO THE VET LADY!!!!!!!!!!!!! if your too CHEAP to take them to the vet then you have absolutly no business owning those cats!!!!!!!!!!

you never said you WERE though!!!!!!!!! what are we supposed to think? you should have mentioned it in your question!!!!!!!!
