Normal to me is a happily married Mom & Dad rasing their kids in a nice neighborhood with a job or jobs. Children are in sports and school clubs. They are on the honor roll because the parents CARE about grades. You take a vacation every summer and have "family day" once a month with all your kids doing a fun activity.
That's my life and I think we are NORMAL.

I KNOW I am lucky to have what I have BUT...we work at it.
We both went into this marriage saying it was forever. No cheating on each other and no divorce. We both are religious and I don't care what anyone says - that helps (same morals and values). We had as many kids as we believed we could afford. We helped them with homework and went to all their school functions. We could have had more but I didn't work to stay home with the kids. This was to everyone's benefit because my husband could concentrate on his job and rise through the corporations he has worked for.
We had a tiny 800 square foot house, 1 car, and second hand furniture when we started out. Our lake home (second home) is way bigger than our first house and we just got back from taking the whole family to Italy. We started out poor and WORKED for everything we have. I babysat to make money to eat. It can be done.

That sounds like a good stable situation. These days, though, it is probably not so much the norm.

I don't think there is necessarily such a thing as a "normal" family. There are all types now, and I guess whatever they are, as long as the people involved are happy, then what we think of as "normal" isn't important.

You just gave ur definition of (normal) there is no such thing as normal! I'd say you are lucky to be in what you call a (normal) life. I'm sure 99% of families would love to be in and have what u call the normal situation, but there's many cicumstanses that prevent this from being a reality. Not everyone can afford a yearly vacation, everyone can't afford to live in a nice neighborhood some are lucky to just have a roof over thier heads that dosen't leak and they are working, no matter how hard they may try not all kids can be on the honor roll(for God sakes) no matter how hard they may try to make good grades maybe thier parent and or parents were busy working as kids trying to help put food on thier tables instead of getting to go to school and can't help thier own kids with thier homework because they were unable to get an education because they had to grow up faster by working as children.... Maybe the parent/s can't afford to buy thier supplies they may need to be able to be in school clubs and sports. And the list goes on..... Think about all that, then think about ur ?
