Jesus was the son of God, and died free of sin as a perfect sacrifice of his human existence. Before he did this the jews had to sacrifice a goat or something. Thats why the only way to heaven is to believe he did this for you , ask forgiveness for your sins, and accept him as your lord and saviour. Death is the price we pay for sin, but if you follow christ you will also be resurrected in spirit and have eternal life with him in heaven.

Jesus didn't "die for our sins". He just died. Then his spirit lived on. That's why we're still talking about him. Religion invented the "died for our sins" crap to make us feel guilty and keep us in line. Some catholics even tell their kids that they're making baby Jesus cry when they're bad. How sick is that? I told Jesus, "Hey, man, I'll take responsibility for my own sins. I'm sorry. I won't do dat no more, so GET DOWN, man, GET DOWN!! Quit bleeding all over us for god's sake." And hey, sure crucifixion ain't no picnic, but it's a hell of alot better than being drawn and quartered or burned at the stake.

Well since Adam brought sin into the world, all men were born as sinners. We are all guilty of breaking God's commandments therefore deserving punishment. However since Jesus didn't come from a man, but from the spirit. Meaning Mary and Joseph had no sexual contact, he wasn't born as a sinner. Then since he lived a perfect sin-less life, paid for our transgressions on the cross, and was sent to hell for our mistakes. We were able to be forgiven if we took on his spirit by faith. This is due to the fact that God looked at Jesus like he had been guilty, and since he wasn't he had the power to defeat death. If you pay the price for yourself, there is no hope for you.

I especially like the argument that Jesus is God come to earth to walk as a man. This supposes that god came in the form of Jesus to die for our sins... like a self sacrifice. This is extremely flawed as god is viewed to be an eternal being without beginning or end. In an infinite lifespan 30 years of life and one day of torture and subsequent death is but a pin-prick... this is supposing God wouldn't use his "power" to block out the pain.
Then again, how is this a sacrifice if he cannot die? There is no sacrifice there. Even if Jesus really was a man and not god, the claim that he was risen to heaven after his death negates any sacrifice at all.

The atonement involved Jesus suffering all the guilt, pain, and suffering caused by the sins of mankind. His suffering was enough to make even a God tremble and want to have the burden removed from him. He suffered all the pains of humanity, all their sorrows, their grief, and their sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. This suffering was continued on the cross where he gave his life.
He paid the price so that he could step in and help us when it came time for us to pay. He is our creditor and has infinite ability to pay our debts. That is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Paying" for our sins is a figure of speech, so "paying the price" is also. What Jesus did was take the place of everybody's sins...we all sin. Jesus died for us. I am assuming you know what sin means. Asking forgiveness and believing in Jesus in your only salvation from being in eternal Hell....a lake of fire....

Jesus died for our sins so that we could go to heaven. Prior to the sacrifice we could not get to heaven. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice to forgive us of our sins.

The whole christian "lamb of god" slaughter thing is totally insane. If christians could only get out of their paradigm and stand back and read literally what they believe some of them might see the truth, that it is totally insane. Your question gets part of the way there, but really your question is not even necessary because Jesus never died for anyones sins, that is a nutty notion. God if he exists is not a sadist or insane. IMHO anyway.

He died and spilled his blood for our sins. We are all going to die but would you honestly CHOOSE to die for the people of the worlds sins. True you will end up in heaven but to endure all the torture and humiliation that Jesus did for us willingly is not something just anyone would do.

No Jesus paid the price and atonement for the sins of the world. The Bible says we were born and shaped in iniquity. And He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities: The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his stripes he bore we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way: the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth: he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgement he was taken away. Isaiah 53:4-8
So as you can see Christ loves us so much that he did all of this for us. He also died went to hell, got the keys, locked Satan in and they were given to us that we may have victory over him in this world. And was risen from the dead by God and ascended unto Heaven. The only way to recieve that is to repent and put our trust in Jesus. And watch him transform your life from the inside out.
