I think every mother would be sad to have their children gone far, but they would also be happy if their children would be better in the other country.
The main question is : do you want to leave, what are the advantages and the disadvantages of leaving.
You should take in consideration the fact that all of us must at some point leave their parents.... they are only supposed to take care of us as long as we can't do it....but then, God made us independent persons because He has plans for each and every one.....so I say: Follow your destiny (Note... I do not put an equality mark between destiny and fatality, for me the destiny is the road we choose in life from the many roads we have in front of us)

Yes. Did that 18 years ago. Came to the US from the UK. I'm an only child and was always very close to my mom. I still am. I have to tell you that it never gets any easier being apart. However, I have a wonderful life here, and my mom is so happy for me. She'll tell you that although she misses me terribly, when she sees the life that I have she would not have it any other way.

I absolutely would not. I'm terribly afraid and change and don't ever want to move to another county. In general people who were raised in the area I live (Northern Kentucky) don't leave -- if they do they come back. It's just wonderful here. I just couldn't bear being too far from everything I know and love.

yeah I did it 14 yrs ago and yeah my mom was sad but at the same time she's happy for me.. She's the one who told me to go for it so later in life I would have no regret. By then, she had a chance to come to my new place and see for herself how good my life is..Now she's too old to travel so I make sure to call her every week & visit her every year.

If your parents want you to learn, grow, and be happy, then even if they're sad, they need to realize it's important for you.

I never experienced this myself, but I would like to have.

Also, I guess your mother might worry that you'd never want to return to your native country.

Maybe, too, she'd worry about your safety (depending on what country it is and your level of maturity).
