I was taught both my mother is Korean and my father is American. I think its a great expericence for someone to be able to speak two languages expecially if two different races are in the family.

Speak all the languages! The more different sounds your child hears at a younger age, the more synapses (brain cells) will start waking up and firing. And they will stay open. That way, new langauges will be much easier for your child to pick up in the future. Pick a predominant language, but integrate all the languages into daily use so it's familiar. Good luck!

I would teach the child English, and the other two languages! Knowing more than one language is a great asset for a person, and will open many doors of opportunity in the future. Plus, it's easier for a young child to learn languages rather than waiting until he or she is older. Good Luck!

One speak english to the baby and one speak a second language. The baby will start talking later, most likely, but will start speaking BOTH languages.

Maybe the foreigner can speak his language to the child and you can speak your language. The dual language learning from parents should not set back the child and he'll have 2 languages under his belt.

You could speak the mother's language with the child in the household, but have the child learn English first before the mother's language (since English is the hardest language)......

The child will learn English by association with others. Speak your own languages to the baby. How will he communicate with the grandparents otherwise?

use both.. make the same gestures and issues you would in both languages. The baby will be able to pick up the meaning. Dont worry.. it wont confuse things. Just speak both at all times to him/her..if you dont it will be harder for the baby to lean either language fully. At some point the kid will be speaking one or the other, it would be harder for him or her to be fluent in one and then try to learn another. Just use both...right from the beginning. he or she will understand. The brain is that powerful to compensate for both languages.

if you are living in america, your baby will learn english eventually no matter what. in the meantime, both of you should be speaking to her in the foreign language... even if you haven't perfected it yet (it will give you a chance to practice without any criticizing judges!). also, start reading to her from foreign language childrens books, get videos in that language as well.

my parents tried to make me bilingual -- my dad spoke to me in german, and my mom in english. But it really doesn't work that way because usually one parent spends much more time with the baby than the other. you BOTH need to speak to your baby in the foreign language. and eventually, to each other as well.

I think you should speak both languages, Its inportment for your 3 month old to learn both. Your husband has a right to teach the child his language also. The child has to learn all the history and ways of your husband home land.If god forbid that something should happen to you both, and the child has to go to his dads homeland, he should be able to fit right in. Nothing worst then listening to people talk in there language and you not understanding a word their saying.also the ways of your husbands people. The wat they dress and eat and communiate with others also their religion that is very inportant. I hope i have helped you out on your decision in this matter. Godd luck in whatever way you decide to bring up this little child. All the best.
