I was in a particularly bad frame of mind yesterday and answered a question posed by Hudson_1980 in a harsh, sarcastic and demeaning way. In all actuality I was in the frame of mind that I was in due to the five month anniversary of my mother's death. I came on YA to occupy my mind and the first question I came to was his about Jesus "schlong". I was actually turning my hurt on something that normally I would laugh off. Anyway, he chose my answer as best answer. I hate that he did because the answer I gave was a great example of an unchristian attitude. I apologized to him at his web address, now I am apologizing to any Christians or any others I may have offended by my remarks. T any new or unsure Christians out there, I am sorry for my outburst, that is not the way a Christian should behave.

Hudson, I am not acting! msscarlet has nothing to do with the game clue, my birth mother(I'm adopted) bless her heart must have been very impressionable as she named me after Scarlet O'Hara in Gone With The Wind. Thank God my mom had the intelligence to change it when she adopted me 47 years ago.

One option would be to go back and edit your answer.

And even better option would be the one you chose -- come clean, and apologize.

In this day and age, we don't apologize as much as we should -- we're too hellbent on proving ourselves right all the time, no matter.what.

And then if we do apologize, it's often half-hearted and immediately followed by a clause beginning with the word "but." As in, "I'm sorry for such-and-such, BUT ... "

That's better than nothing, I guess, but the best kind of apology is the one where we just ... apologize. And don't try to offer excuses.

Apologizing seems to have become a thing of the past -- it's great that there are people such as yourself who are willing to do it when the situation calls for it, though.

God bless you.

I did not read your comments but I think it is great of you to publicly apologize. That is a christian attiude. And for anyone to hold that against you, they in turn would be unchristian. The joy we have in Christ comes in the form of forgiveness and redemption. I am sorry about your mom. I can't even imagine how difficult that must be for you. We all have our moments of weakness. I am chiefest of saying things I wish I didn't. lol. I try to pray before I open my mouth. Always remembering that it is about Christ and not my personal pain. At least trying to remember that. I always tell my Sunday School class that if you are a christian, fair or unfair we represent Christ. It is akin to a bad sales clerk or waitress. Often a bad experience with a sales clerk or waitress will put a bad taste in our mouths for the whole store or restaurant. We don't want to be that Chrsitian that turns others away from Christ. Anyway, I think it is VERY Christian of you to take the time to apologize. I can totally respect that. Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.

I tend to make an effort to be respectful and generic in my answers. I may be terse or direct, but I support my answers to the best of my abilities through citing scriptural defect or contradiction. I think many of us tend to be in an offense-defense mode in here and tempers do sometimes flare. I also think that the point of YA is to have some fun...despite it being a serious subject..it should still be fun to try and discern what's up with religion and peoples belief systems. At any rate I am not going to be apologetic for any of my answers despite being terse and direct I generally stay away from being out and out nasty just to have fun. PEACE!

Yes, Gentleman was asking for help with his mental illness, out of weariness and spite I answered truthfully but harshly, Though I am an Atheist, this is not the way to behave in polite society.

So, if I answer in a curt way, please forgive me. I am only human.

Sometimes I kinda feel bad, but then I just laugh at my assinine answer and move on. Generally, those answers are for amusement only.

I don't have any excuse for it.
