I don't care because I am dead. I would prefer that it was used for science or my parts used but I don't think my husband would like that. I am Christian so I don't think I well need it after I am dead. If it can help someone that would be preferable.

I really couldn't care less what they do with my body when I die. It's while I am still alive that it matters. I have asked to be cremated for one reason only: I don't fancy the idea of beeing buried alive.

In certain countries, they bury bodies until the corpses decompose completely leaving only the bones.
After 3 years, the body is exhumed, the bones packe into a small box and the grave is ready for another corpse. Reason they do this is because there is very little place for burial. Anyway, where is this leading? I heard of a 'story' (whether it be true or not I do not know) that in the case of a particular woman, they found bits of nail, broken fingers and scratches on the top side of the coffin. If so, this poor baby was buried alive.

I also wanted to donate my body to science until recently. I dissected a cadaver this year for my Human Anatomy class. It was a wonderful experience that I am very grateful for (and I would love to give other students the same opportunity one day when I die) but seeing how some people treated, handled and spoke about their cadavers REALLY changed my mind. Respect is a very important thing to me, even it death. If that doesn't bother you...them go for it dude. Some student out there is going to learn a lot from you.

Personally though, I would like to donate my organs (if the circumstances allow for that). I would then like the rest of me to be cremated. Don't know where I would like my ashes to be scattered but I still have some time to think about that...the Ocovango Delta in Botswana would be beautiful though.

One rule...there have to be chocolate muffins with chocolate chips at my funeral...

What a wonderful question...thanks:)

If I manage to die in England- only spend a couple of weeks a year there now , -I am with you. Have the card still and made it clear that the students can play doctor with what is left.If I die here in the middle east, I think that my kids will overrule whatever I want and will probably bury me with great haste ( the heat factor). Still, I would love for them to have a Leywah Band (local traditional music) accompany me on my journey to my final resting place as a celebration of a life lived well. Probably won't happen as it would really offend people of just about every religious creed here.Shame though!!!

I have a donor card and have told my family the doctors can have anything they want for transplant or for training medical students. Another use is for the human tissue bank. Human tissue can be used for medical research and gives much more valid results than testing on animals and will save some poor lab animals lives too.
If there is anything left to bury I would opt for a woodland burial which I think is the most environmentally friendly option.

I will definately be an organ donor-then burial. My friend passed away in a stupid bar fight because he bought some girl a drink and her man got pissed and they fought. Supposodly the dude stepped on his head out on the concrete and fractured his skull in 3 places. His brain swelled , and he died a few hours later. Bottom line is, he was an organ donor and saved 7 lives. There is a little boy in Cincinnati or Cleveland with his beautiful blue eyes too!

Organs donated, maybe I could help save a child's life. The rest I would like to be cremated. I told my mom and dad years ago that I would like to hollow out a hole in a good size of marble or something..and cap it off. Put me in the garden as an ornament. LOL
At one point I wanted my remains to be put in an hourglass..I thought that would be groovy but then I was told that its not smooth..there are chunks in it..so I figured that would be a bad idea. I think I'll stick with the rock thing :P

to be honest i hope to die when im old and my body is of no use to man nor beast. I carry a donor card, but i hope i dont die while my organs are in good health! My children will have to make the final decision - no matter what i want, when im dead it will be their grieving process and whatever makes them feel better goes - rather than enforcing my will on them. I know this sounds silly but im afraid of cremation just in case! I think i would like to be buried in a cardboard coffin, u know the biodegradable one, in an orchard so my body returns its molecules and atoms to the earth as fast as possible - glooping inside a fancy coffin - yuk.

Not sure what use my body would be to anybody, but they can use it for whatever they want once I've finished with it. I don't think this cryogenics thing will come to anything for a long time, and I don't think I want to come back to 'life' so far in the future - the future of mankind doesn't look particularly rosy to me.

Now look, you've got me all depressed now!

Marvin.

What I want is (I believe) illegal in this country, so I'd have to get some friends or family members involved.
So at my funeral, whether thats burial or cremation, I would get my 'colleagues' to steal my body then take it to some woods somewhere well away from where people might go walking, and just dump it on the ground.

What a way to go!
