Never right to be mean and hateful (these are both evil in the heart).
sometimes it is right to answer very strongly and pointedly (not giving any wiggly room), to point out a persons sin and its consequences. Even this should be done in love and concern. It may appear mean and hateful to the one being corrected, because they do not want to know about their problems.
Some people mean well by what they say, but they lack the skill to say it in an appropriate way.

Hate what God hates and thats it.
1 Cor 6:9,10
Eph 5:3-5
read that!
we shouldnt hate the person but hate that behavior and if the person continues to indulge in that behavior than we should not mix in thei company because they do not love God.
1 cor 5:11-13

God can't love anyone. Only humans have emotions Gods aren't human. Unless of course humans made them up. Therefore they act like humans too. And aren't gods but mirror images of humans.
And every action, mean , nice, acting hate full, has consequences. So it's always appropriate to act, when you are willing to accept the consequences. It's not appropriate to blame something (Satan) or someone else for those consequences.
This answer is a consequence.

God loves you regardless. I think the necessaries of hate in a christian is to hate sin. After all, that is one thing that God hates ... sin.
Sin has always been the motivator that caused God to pour out His wrath and has destroyed before, many times mentioned in the old testament of the bible. And He's about to do it again in Revelations.

Its never appropriate for a Christian to be mean or hateful. Its ok for a Christian to disagree with others, but should express it repectfuly. Gods love is unconditional rather or not someone is being reasonable or hateful.
Its is often misinterpeted that to hate what God hates and love what God loves means to hate people. God hates the sin but loves and is reaching out to the sinner to draw them towards himself and to reveal who he intended them to be.
Christians often get their priorities wrong. Often they have more pride in their political party than doing what Jesus said. Its easy for christians to get on the defense when they see moral issues as a competition they have to fight against. They get all cought up in protesting against and that but are too scared to get to know the people they are protesting against and really hearing them out. They may not agree but they still can embrace the individuals as people and agree to disagree.

God loves us when we are both reasonable and when we are hateful. No more no less. When we are evil it does disappoint Him, but he is always there to forgive us and love us. Even though God will always be willing to forgive it does not give us free reign too be hateful. He calls us to be examples to the world and to live a good life as Christ as our model. Christ did feel anger, but he was never hateful about it.

As a Christian, we should never be mean and hateful. But the Bible says all of our good works are like filthy rags. We can't do anything to please God in our sinful state, but God loves us anyway. We are not saved by what we do, thank goodness. We are saved because Jesus died for us. We should try to be kind and loving, because Jesus was kind and loving.

It is neaver appropriat as a Christian to be mean and hateful. In the bible it says; If a man hits you in your left cheek, turn and offer him the right cheek. As a Christian, it is your responsibility to love your fellow man. Be forgiving, and to stay away from those who are of a sinful life. Granted, we all sin, but there are thos who live for it. Do not be spiteful, There is a commandment that says love thy neighbor. And another commandment that says. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Are you asking should Christians only love and not confront sin and call it sin (NOT judging but telling what the bible says about a certain action) or confront those who try and twist the truth to their own logic.
The answer is NO a Christian is called to shine the light not put it in the closet!
