I think it's for preparing you for the market because believe me working is tough- if it's not the work it's the people and office politics so it's better you learn and live through interning, if you can survive that then you can survive anything. Persevere it will pass

Probably cause your the new guy. If you don't get paid you better find another job caus that really sucks a fatty.

Because it's that necessary evil you must do for your degree and your internship administrators know that and seek to get everything they can out of you to prepare you in the best way they can.
