Are you refering to banana flour?

Banana flour is made from the starchy plantain. It is sometimes used for a food for invalids as it is starchy, filling and nutritious. It can be combined with regular flour when a starchy product is desired.

Commercially prepared banana flour is produced by freeze drying puréed banana. The flour is very fine and is very useful for its moisture absorbing and holding properties. It is a good gluten-free product and can be used to make pancakes, bread, scones and cakes moist, lighter with a more airy texture. When combining it with flour don't replace more than 1/4 of the total amount of flour with banana flour or the product will become a sticky paste.

Substitutions

See recipe for making your own.

Place dried banana chips in a blender or food processor and blend until fine.

You can add the banana to the mix but taking out flour and subbing the banana for it won't work.It won't have the consistency that a cake should have. You could try it if you want but it's not gonna taste like a cake its gonna be more dense in texture then a cake.

No. A banana would add flavor and moisture, but you need flour for structure. The type of flour also makes a difference...high or low protein (cake vs. all purpose vs. bread flour) in the texture of whatever you're baking. Banana instead of flour? Absolutely not.

Flour is the main substance in a cake. If you substitute a banana you will have mush and not cake. Maybe you could be a little more precise.

there is no need to substitute. Just add banana additionally. Also u can add banana flavouring instead or with banana.

I used to bake cakes and felt it was too complicated but eventually u can even learn that u can still make good cake without making lots of pan and pots dirty and too complicated procedures. i usually add all dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix all rest ingredients together in separete then add them to dry ingredients bowl. I even sometimes combine all together in one bowl with eggs beaten already.

I always tried puting in diff kind of stuff, coco powder lots of it for brownies, or fruit, raisins or jam or cococut. ITs not much complicated. just put additional fruits in less quantity and all will be fine.

No. With baking most especially you have to stick with the ingredients and the measurements. There are very few items you can substitute (cake flour vs. flour, baking powder vs. baking soda + cornstarch), but in general never mess with the recipe.

Mashed fruit is usually a substitute for the fat in recipes. 1 tbsp mashed banana = 1 tbsp butter.

no but if you puree it you can cut down on some of the liquid in the mix. This does not work with sponge cake.
