My tip is a little strange, but I swear by it. Use a good flea shampoo on your pet. Here is the strange part; spray your carpet and floors with Pine-Sol. Half water, half Pine-Sol mixture. Spray until the carpet is moist. Do this every day or so for about a week, also remember where you are getting the fleas from. Outside, plant some penny royal, or get a good insecticide to treat the yard. If all else fails, try a flea bomb, they really work.

and of course take regular table salt and spread it all over your carpets. Wait at least 30 minutes and vacuum. Some people will vacuum, then salt and leave the salt on over night. The theory is that the flea larva (like the caterpillars of fleas) will eat the salt and die of dehydration. This really works. I have done only this part when I was really busy and it took longer but it got rid of all the fleas.

I don't like bug bombs. They leave a chemical residue on everything in the house.
You can vacuum the carpet, then sprinkle Twenty Mule Team Borax on the carpet. Keep doing this for several weeks. The borax in the product will kill the fleas in the carpet and with continued use will kill the flea eggs as they hatch.
You can get Frontline or Advantage at the vet's to put on the dog. I use Bio Spot which is otc, and costs less. It works just as well. I've used it on all my dogs and on all the rescues that I have had. Haven't seen a flea or tick in over 10 yrs.

You have to do the house, the dog and the yard all the same day. And when you do the yard start at the house and spray away towards the outer edges of the yard. Bomb only go straight up and then come down, they don't get in the cracks next to the wall and under the bed or couch. Virbac makes a great yard spray and some stuff called Knockout. We sell them both at the vet clinic where I work. And they both do a great job. Put Advantix on the dog and it will keep her free of fleas and ticks. Good luck.

Use frontline outside on the dog. Let the dog stay outside ALL day and make sure you work it in so that he/she is completely covered. Then you should find a better flea killer in the house. Also your dog is probably getting them from outside so you should find an insect killer and do that around your house. They will keep coming back if you don't completely rid them.

Use a Frontline or Advantix product on the dog (I use Frontline Plus). In the home, I recommend Fleabusters. It is a powder that you apply directly into your carpet. I have used it in the past and my home has been flea free for several years - I swear by it! A 3 lb. container covers about 1000 sqft. and runs about $40. It is easy to apply and can be purchased online. It is not harmful to pets once applied but they should not be in the house during application.

Aside from fumigating the house, keeping the bedding clean ,washing in flea baths ,try the flea combs and do it manualy
garlic in the food, daily vigilance is the only way to combat this problem other wise the poor little mite will have to have his home outside

advantage or frontline from the vet, the individual packages you use monthly. Keep using as maintenance, but just when you see fleas. Freeze / wash/ replace pillows and stuffed animals. Vaccuum and deep clean your carpet and furniture. Wash all your bedding and blankets. Flea powders, collar, shampoos, etc don't work.
