No, your pet came first and your boyfriend should either ignore the cat or try to get along with him. I'd tell your boyfriend to either knock it off or not to come over anymore. Pets are smart and I believe that if they really don't like someone there is a reason for it. I would never date someone that my dog hated.

You mentioned breaking up with him. So we know that you have thought about it.
It is cruelty that your boyfriend is practicing. If you let him keep doing this to your cat, your cat could turn timid toward all people in general and will lose trust in you.
Also, if you don't Make your bf stop this, he will learn that he can control you in other ways, and soon your relationship will turn unhealthy.
The cat came first. It does a lot spychologicly to the cat if you get rid of him. He will definately learn that he can't trust humans and that is a horrible thing to do.
Sit your boyfriend down and tell him that it is over UNLESS he can either leave your cat alone or try to get along with your cat. He is cruel and your cat has done nothing to deserve it.
Good luck, I wish you the best!

Obviously your BF is ABUSING your cat. If the cat is afraid of him there is a reason. Dump the jerk before something happens to the cat. Only a jerk would do something to a poor small defenseless animal. Your cat needs you to protect it. Your BF will find his own way in the world, your cat won't. Be a responsible owner, that dude has problems and he is taking them out on the cat.

Boyfreind sounds like the type of immature idiot who enjoys torturing kitty because you are reacting to his behavior.
Be dead serious and tell boyfriend to grow up and leave the darn cat alone or don't come to your home.
Don't whine and nag if he tortures kitty again, tell him to get out of your house. And when I say tell him to get out, I mean that he should end up on the other side of the door, until he apologizes and alters his rude behavior.
He's direspectful. If you dump him, you will not have broken up with him over a cat, you will have broken up with him because he is immature and disrespectful. If he can't comply with a simple request to leave the cat alone, what other things will he do in the future to intentionally disrespect you?
Get rid of the boyfriend and keep the kitty. I tell evrybody that I live in my dogs house. If you are a guest in my home, my dogs have more right to be there than you do. Like it or lump it.
Good luck

The main thing here is that he will not respect your wishes. He's not respecting something that is very near and dear to your heart, so what does that say about him and his maturity level. I don't think it's weird to break up over it, but if he's not taking you seriously when you ask him to leave your cat alone, how serious is he taking this relationship?

Tell your boyfriend that if he doesn't learn to respect your cat than he must go. Your cat will never turn on you and will love you no matter what. You can't say the same thing about your boyfriend. Tell your boyfriend that by teasing your cat he is disrespecting you since that is your pet.

No its not weird. Your pets are family (atleast most of us pet owners feel that way) I would never choose a guy over a family member. Try talking to your guy and tell him your serious, if he dosent leave your cat alone, your through with him, make sure he knows that this issue means alot to you, and if he cant respect that then tell him good bye!

yeah i have to agree with most of the answers. If this guy treats your cat like this, how would he treat a child that depends on it's parents for food and love? i am not saying break up him right away, give him a chance to straighten out, and then get rid of him if he does it again. sit him down and tell him that you love your cat,and you don't want him treating the cat like he does. don't give an ultimatum, just tell him that if he can't respect your cat, that this relationship isn't going to work out.

Tell your BF...
"Look, You Need To Leave My Cat Alone, If You Can't Then Were Thru!"
He needs to respect that that is your cat, not a toy.

Boot the boyfriend. NOW.
It's not weird. You had the cat first, right? And if he doesn't respect your wishes to treat your pet properly, how can you expect that he'll respect you in other ways too?
