Here's the old grouch answer - wedding invitations aren't really the place to be funny and inventive, unless the wedding is SUPER-casual. Even then, it's so easy to fall right off the edge of "funny" into "cheesy and tacky."
Why don't you enclose a reception card with something funny on it? Like, "Make sure you help us celebrate the final capture of ..."
Just an opinion, of course. Your wedding, your way!

Why would you want to be "funny and inventive" for such a solemn and momentous occasion? It's called a ceremony for a reason. Save the fun and invention for your toasts and other reception entertainments. People come to a wedding expecting certain things, and amateur level theatrics is not among them; they see enough bad comedy on TV. Stick with tradition lest you diminish the otherwise generous impulses of your potentially gift-bearing guests.
