i'll assume your going for the judeo christian view of god the father. From that heres my answer.
God is.
Thats it. At least as far as the bible goes. A view as to what god is in humble opinion
God is a complex idea - it is the force that exsists as space between the smallest of atoms and netrons, it is the bond between M- String protons. ( please look at modern chaos theory, and theories of relativity ) it is at the end of the day that which maintains a constant energy in the universe.
Note, i'm aethiest so don't bother to care too much more about it.
god is what a dog is. something that looks damned right funny if you ever pause to think about it.

God is a word that describes what I believe.
What is God - creation,spirit, blind faith, artist, love.
God is my belief that the reason I am here is because of God.
The same as I would say about my human father.
I have no idea what God looks like - but in faith I believe that there is something.
So, I would say God is what keeps a lot of people going - the belief that there is something - God is hope.

i liken god to a powerful source like the sun .. by which without its existence we would not survive
if you can imagine the sun for a moment ... so beautiful yet you cannot look directly at it
the tiny flares emitting from it .. i liken these solar flares to new spirit being born from gods energy .. a spark of the divine which is in us all

lol, okay seriously, I would say, god is like a mass of energy which some how we are tied to. god, us and the universe are some how tied together i guess. If that makes any sense. everything seems to begin from this energy we call god, because we believe that he is real and is not a what.

What is GOD. God is a belief. we believe God created heaven and Earth. Just like the tooth fairy and Santa Claus we believe they exist because we can't see them only hear of them. As we get older we lose our belief in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus but not in GOD because we have never seen God so yeah GOD is a belief!
