The first place to start is to examine what you are having nightmares about. Does it bother you in real life? If you had the nightmare around you in real life, would you freak out? Is it a general source of anxiety. These are all questions to use to examine your dream and get to the source of it. You can try and get rid of the source - stop worrying about bugs by going to something akin to a petting zoo and pushing your comfort level. Once you stop worrying about them, you SHOULD stop having as many nightmares about them. If its a deepseated emotional issue, I doubt it goes away this easily.
Another method to dealing with it is to realize you are in the dream, and instead of trying to wake up, try controlling the dream itself - its in your head. Some people can achieve a sort of Matrix-esque control of their dreams, and therefore they become less nightmares, and more just very strange adventures.
Good luck!

Your Dreams are your minds sub concious way of wrapping itself around a problem that you don't want to deal with while awake. The bugs merely could be a representation of something else you are afraid of. Figure out what that may be and get some counseling if needed. Also preprogram your mind before you go to sleep the outcome you would like from your dream ie: you squish the little buggers in your dream so their no longer a threat, might I recommend a giant can of raid in your hand so that they perish as well. Sweet dreams

Your having these because your thinking about bugs right before you sleep. If they creep into your mind, shut them out right away. Perhaps listen to music. If your seeing bugs in the day try to find a way you won't.
Also, it may be because its a subconcious fear that you need to deal with one way or another. Tell yourself bugs won't hurt you. Find a cute looking bug (if possible) and use that in your mind. Watch Ms. Spider on Noggin or something. Just get rid of the idea that bugs will hurt you and the nightmares should subside.

Talk to someone about it, to get it out of your system. Pray, if you do that sort of thing. Before bed, do calming things...take a warm bath (or a cool one if it's as hot there as it is here), listen to chill-out type music or recordings of rain/waves/wind in the trees etc., read books or poetry that you find relaxing...fill your mind with calming images and sensations. A few drops of lavendar oil on the pillow is very relaxing (2 or 3 drops is enough). If you know your Bible, I've always found Psalm 23 or 91 to be a big help...Psalm 23 got me thru a double root canal!

You can look online for lucid dreaming techniques, where you may be able to guide your dreams to something other than bugs. It's pretty new age-y, and you may not be into that, but it might be worth a shot.

It's telling you that you need to deal with something in your life! Who or what is "bugging" you? Once you've dealt with whatever it is the dream will go away. (Once you even START to deal with it, the dream will probably change in recognition of your efforts, though it may not go completely until you've resolved the issue) Good luck in tracking it down.

It's your subcoscious trying to tell you something. Once you've worked out what it is, the dreams will go away.
Are you particularly worried/upset about anything? From now or in your past?
