Westerners would never be able to follow Sharia law--look at our so-called "muslim" countries....they can't even follow Sharia law. Everyplace there is coorruption and injustice and greed. Until someone comes to rectify all of our problems and lead us as a true muslim leader and impliment Gods laws on earth, we won't find peace. So don't expect the west to be able to do this if even we can't.

Because:
mostly people don't understand what truly constitutes the Sharia law. I doubt that a lot of Muslims also understand it, there is a lot of misconceptions about it.

When you say Sharia law, it must be clear that non-Muslims are not obliged to be trialed by it.

I don't think that the Sharia law itself would be a true reason for exact proper behaviour. It's similar to the principals of applying a justice system, more of the 'stick', fear of the punishment that helps dictate orderly behaviour.
Rather, I am of personal belief that if we stick to the ways of the Holy Book, Al-Quran & followe the example of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH that people would behave better & society would be better off (the 'carrot' incentive)

I do think it would be good if Muslims had the Sharia Law option in courts for themselves in countries.

Sharia Law....Law derived from the ideology in the Quran...Is quite foriegn to Western Culture. In addition, the mullahs have 'interpolated' a GREAT DEAL of laws from the Quran which aren't ACTUALLY in the Quran...Women wearing the bhurka, for instance...

ANY religion is at its core simply a belief system. One's FAITH must drive the adherence to the religion...NONE can be proved, so ideologies must be derived from FAITH and FAITH alone.

Westerners hold dear that religion is a personal thing, each person having the right to build the Belief System that satisfies the faith of each individual...Islam, Quranic Law, will NOT allow this, hence westerners have a difficult time accepting Rule By Sharia...

Yeah, sure, I'm sure everyone in the UK wants to live like the Afghans under the Taliban.

There's nothing like religious police running around beating people up because their beards are too short. And I'm sure British women would just love being forced out of schools and into homes with the shades drawn all day long. Burkhas for all the ladies!
Do you think the British soccer fans would enjoy not being able to play such a wicked game any more? Instead they can go to the stadium to watch beheadings or maybe seeing a bulldozer knocking a brick wall over on a homosexual or maybe just a good old fashioned stoning.

I'm sure everyone would love that.

It is a function of varied medias and varied propagandas .. There are some in each culture .. and by this I mean also in your news medias towards western cultures... but the one's here towards "shariah" and many other aspects of muslim life and living.. are yes, gross distortions .. there are smaller medias here also from the "Christian right"... television shows that are from Christian shows that really "regard the muslim world as evil"... these are worse perpetrators than our standard medias, such as CNN ..which are somewhat more level and discriminating in portraying the muslim world ..
And when a Christian right media misportrays shariah, by taking some odd unverified incident .. they never fail but to suggest that they are speaking some "general rule" extended to all muslim countries .. then you see these things circulating into a kind of "sick rumor mill" on the internet ..
I am not Jewish,Christian, or Muslim .. I believe in a Supreme Being .. and in regards to your question .. I am trying to give you as honest an answer as I can on what I observe occurring in my own culture ..

Religious laws have no place in a multi-cultured society because they infringe on the rights of those who do not hold those particular superstitious beliefs. That is also a good reason why religious laws don't belong in any society, anywhere.
