because i have some educational cd which can be run by only windows me. and i prefer windows xp for other work

Yes. Both doesnt have any issues. But first you need to install Windows ME in its own partition. Then install Windows XP in its own partition. If you want to access Windows XP Data from Windows ME then you need to use FAT32 File System for Windows XP.

Both the OSs should be on their own partitions. ME must be installed First - otherwise, it will corrupt XP Boot record.

You should be able to use the compatibility mode settings in XP to run the ME only application. Windows ME was a disaster and I wouldn't recommend that anyone run it. It's far worse than even 98.
