If you were shown that Jesus was dark of skin and black hair and looked like a Middle east guy, rather than a Blonde white man, would this still have been palatable even in teh ages of slavery??

Jesus was dark-skinned and that is obvious.......The western world just painted him the blonde way because that is all they knew about then.

Well now. Theres a funder mental question if ever I heard one.
Was ol' jc black? Depends on where you are and who you ask. Could have been. Could have been white too. The romans had conquered the middle east and could easily have impregnated mary too, if you believe it. Heres the facts.
There is NO evidence to prove he even existed, let alone what colour he was.
IF he did exist, he was probably light brown (jewish remember) or white with dark hair. I doubt he would be black but he may have been arabic, but the backgrounds dont really match up.
..... but then it doesnt match up anyway does it?

In some cases, I heard of Black Jesus. Well, they are some Syrians, Lebanese, Palestinians and Israelis who have blonde hair and blue eyes. Maybe Jesus was Middle Eastern looking or even blonde. God knows best.

Em....he was.....

Given the location he probably was 'olive' skinned, bearded (traditional/Jewish at the time), dark haired (as most Palastinian Jews are/were).

Also being a perfect man, he was probably quite handsome, and possibly muscular (having been in the carpentry trade until he was 30)

And anyway...it's not the looks...it's the message.

And, no. In the 'age of slavery', white was right, white was might. So any natural 'tanning' was looked down upon...hence Him shown as a skinny, pasty white, weak, longhaired and clean shaven. Instead of the guy that could take a nights worth of abuse, beatings, flogging (skin & muscular tissue torn from the bones) then made to drag a lump of wood, get nailed to it, and after many hours get a spear stuck in his side to check he was dead.

I don't mind what Jesus looked like to be honest and yes he probably was dark and Middle Eastern looking, he was from the Middle East!

He was probably portrayed as being white because that is all Europeans knew!

The chance of Jesus being a blue eyed blonde in the middle east is about as possible as Israel and Palestine getting on with each other.

It's not about the physical appearance....it is knowing about a higher spirit and having spirituality in your life. Every culture will define it's version of a "Jesus" and will define a title of "faith". The western culture defines it as Christianity....How about eastern cultures? Is Buddha and Buddhism the same expression of a higher being just defined differently due to cultural differences???

Why are you so worried about what is palatable for Christians when you have obviously rejected Jesus?
Shouldn't you be more concerned about your eternal life and where you will be for eternity?

this is the only logical way to see jesus due to the area in which he was born
it is possible that through years of slavery and intolerance to blacks and dark skinned people , jesus was simply portrayed as white
