why is there such a wide variety of answers to a question about islam?

I asked the question do muslims hold the role of mother in high esteem and the variety of answers from muslims were like polar opposites, a girl said that they do and if your mother and father calls on you at the same time you should respond to your mother ,then an extremist quoted passages from the quoran saying you should beat women and that there were mostly women in hell because the curse frequently,are ungrateful to there husbands and they have not seen anyone more defficient in intelligence and religion than women . How can the same book the same religion have two such opposite views no wonder all muslims are f.u.b.a.r

I think this shows the extremes of Islam that the rest of us find difficult to comprehend. On the one hand you have extremists or men who are REALLY insecure around women and use their religion and religious texts to try and alienate themselves from everyone alse. On the other hand you have the moderate Muslims who do not believe in all this hatred and sexual inequality. I personally prefer the moderate ones and have absolutely no issue with them.

The answer is a definite 'Yes', mothers are held in high esteem. Unfortunately the true Moslem faith has been infiltrated by tradition and the teachings of others, and a lot of confusion exists. It's rather the case of people taking the words of parents and teachers as absolute truth, instead of investigating for themselves. Another person replying to this question has commented that the Qoran should be banned; I would say, 'Read it, before you ban it'. If the teachings of the Qoran ALONE were understood and followed, we would not have the misery that exists in this world today. And please remember that the majority of Moslems all over the world live in peace when allowed to.

Islam is human friendly religion,with rules nothing like the do's and don't 's you are familiar with.

The good and bad deeds in Islam is all relative,you need a context,otherwise the argument is invalid.

eg killing an animal for sport is wrong but Islam does not forbid killing for food.
Even if it say kill a non-believer as someone had quoted,but killing a person who is innocent or not harmful to a Muslim is equally punishable.A non Muslim citizens has the protection of a Muslim government.

You will also find Islam more flexible than others when dealing with daily matters.

How can you consider a terrorist answer as the right one? Please ignore his.... Islam is not bad religion. It has the same esteem like other major religions in the world.

You may have noticed that everyone talks about Islam and about muslims since Gulf War. Prior to that, nobody talks about terrorism or muslims.

It's very hard to explain you why now becoz it is of highest degree of "dirty politics" which persons like me and you will never understand and we can do nothing about it too....
