I mean really, do you??

My children are in top sets at school, and are polite and curtious. They receive excellent reports from school, and teh events they belong to.

I didnt need a god to give them good manners and to respect each other.

Its a parents responsibility to do that.

Dont pas the buck to your fake god.

Well being in the top sets of anything in school doesnt make your children moral. Some of the most brilliant people academically have done very evil activities.

And anyone can be polite and curtious when motivated. When guys see a girl at the bar they want to take home for random sex they will be a polite and curtious and well mannered as possible. Those things do not define moral.

Morals are a decision compass for life.

And yes you do need God for morals, but not directly. Any good that is in your did not originate in your but probably the people the raised you, and nothing good originated in them but was eventually connected to a person who had a relationship with God. Goodness is not inheritantly human. Ambition, pride, arrogance, self love are

Yes, You really need a god to teach your children morals.
I don't know how old are they now.
When they grow up, the will find fault with the parents who taught good manners and respect .
Fear of God is more powerful than the fear of man.
When your children tries to commit a mistake,if they have a fear that god is watching me, that fear will avoid them from many mistries.
Remember you and your kids environments will not be the same throught the life time.
It can oscillate between worse to better. to avoid ur kids from the worse make god a best friend for them.

The morals taught to us or instilled in us or, if you will, using common sense have been programed into our total being by the creator himself. He has made us to have a spiritual need and we desire to want to live forever. That was the original purpose for mankind, to live forever! Why do you think The Garden of Eden was started up in the first place? All the goodness and love that we as humans want are really ingrained in us. Sadly, there are those who go against the very grain of wanting to be a good person. So, to answer your question, God first put the good things of values and morals into us at creation. But what you do with it will be your choice and your teaching of what you believe to your children.

If you have a problem in your life the answers can be found in the Bible, I don't care what the problem is. God knows everything we are going to do, but you have the right to choose. Your kids may do all you say they do, but you aren't teaching them about God. What if when they get older and decide they want to go to church and learn about God, are you going to be able to help them and not be negative about. People get unhappy in there life and don't know why because they have everything, but down deep something is still missing. I don't care who you are until you accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior you will never will be truly happy.

Of course you taught them the values they possess. Their conscious allows them to act the way they do. Your conscious is influencing the way you bring up your children. Your ability to distinguish between right and wrong is controlled by your conscious which is directly related to your soul which is directly connected to god. So whether you want to believe in God or not (regardless pf what you call him or how he looks) He is a part of your life. So if you want to accept credit for your childrens character, then you must also accept failure when it happens. Don't go blaming God when the **** hits the fan as it inevitably will.

Where do morals come from?

Arguably, from other humans...we learn them from our parents, teachers, etc. But there had to have been a starting point. Did one person at one point in history just decide to be a "good" person and through luck managed to pass that on to others?

We have a conscience that guides us in terms of morality. We don't need a god to teach our children morals, but those morals did come from God. He's the source of them, and whether or not you rely on anything he says, his level of morality will always be present in some manner.

My two cents...

I've never once used God to teach my child morals and she's polite, well-behaved, compassionate and kind. I taught her to treat all people with respect without bringing religion in to it. It's basic human kindness, that's all.

I hear over and over that it's impossible to be moral or ethical without God and I'm sorry but that doesn't mesh at all with what I've seen. I've raised my child to behave and to be kind because she should not because some religion dictates it. That's my job as a parent.

That's what I have been trying to say as well. My kids are out of school. My kids respect me, their peers and have great jobs. They also have a great outlook on life and carry no vengeance to people that do them wrong.
Theologans should be pay attention to others and give them respect. They only respond to the rude, obnoxious and as a result butt heads, then they fight, then war breaks out. Can people of religion carry on a decent conversation and be open minded to other views?

ooooooohh controversial. Looked at your questions, you really do like your religion don't you?

I for one totally agree with you on this point. In fact I am of the opinion that religion and schools should never ever be mixed. Faith, for whatever that means should be presented when a child is old enough to make informed decisions, and not at an age when they will do anything to please and appease their parents. It is no coincidence that most kids end up the same religion as their parents.
