I don't think our minds can understand the reasons. Our perspective is too limited.

Because prayer likely doesn't work the way most people think it does.
Try thinking of it this way:
God already knows whether you've prayed or not, before you even make the choice.
That said, there's (usually) only four possible outcomes.
1) God always intended to grant your request, prayer or no prayer.
2) God always intended to reject your request, prayer or no prayer.
3) The action would have happened anyway, prayer or no prayer.
4) God knew you would pray, he adjusted his plans, and has already granted your request.
In all cases, prayer serves to make us more in tune with God's divine will, so it's always a good thing.
It's just a bit impractical to think that God is going to reshuffle the entire history of creation just so you and I can get what we want, no matter how nicely we ask.
But he certainly could, if he wanted to!

God does not exist. So when you pray you are merely talking to yourself. Statistically if a billion people pray for something they want, some of those people will get what they want. They then use this false logic to conclude that prayer works.
There have been studies recently surrounding seriously ill patients that showed that prayer does nothing to help them. There is no statistical improvement in their condition, even with lots of prayers.

this is the biggest silliness I've ever read ... you've asked this question because you are in a difficult situation either because you don't believe in GOD.
God does not judge God does not make differences between people of any kind ... He is there for all of us. He knows what he is doing and sooner or later he handles every situation, and even if you don't believe you'll see. Maybe he is not doing anything at the moment but are you doing anything to change your situation ? are you trying your best to make things right ? believe me ... the moment you expect least a sign you will receive . Have faith. oh .. and good luck in everything

It is my guess that God grants every prayer, It is just that we cannot recognise it, because often we expect a gift box and it comes covered in newspaper!

Well, God knows what is best for us (he is God you know!), and what we ask for is not always good for us, so he chooses to say no to our prayer. Simple as that.

because God knows what is good for us. Sometimes when we ask something from God the answer is Yes, at times is No and at times too is wait. so lets leave it to God He knows what is best for us.

Because he's God. We don't know his mind. It has to do with his plans for people, and his timetable.
