All want peace but all want their kind of peace. These what causing wars. "If you want peace return my land". "If you want peace get out of my territory.". No agreement results to war. Similarities are abound. True peace comes only when God's agenda is on the table. We call Him by different names but his characteristics are similar across all God believers. If feuding parties focal point is on God's agenda of peace then peace will come, which, unfortunately, I find it impossible to accomplish in this world.

And may I add

The chance between permanent peace and hitting a lottery jackpot, the latter is better.

Peace is always with us. It might not be visivble but it's still there. There's no certain person or race that is causing the wars. It's everyone. I know that in their heart they want peace. but for some reason they just keep pushing it further and further away by making wars. Some day I hope they realize what they're doing. I hope they'll learn to compromise and get along so there will be no need for war. And once that happens hopefully there will be peace. But always remember the peace is still there, it's just hiding in the shadows, waiting for someone or people to make that change.

Each and everyone. As long as one side refuses to agree completely on the terms, fightings will still go on. If only everyone is thankful of what they have instead of just trying to implement what they think. I'm not saying that it's wrong to do this, but how many of these people really know the pros and cons of the problems.

Sometimes I just wonder whether these people who are fighting ever have someone whom they care and love alot. If they do, haven't they imagine what it's like to see them die.

Yes, I agree that to see someone they love killed by someone else is heart wrenching and will want to seek revenge. If they succeed, so what? The other party will also have someone to get them back. This will go on and on, generations after generations. Maybe the later generations don't even remember the real cause of the fighting, they will only be fighting because their loved ones are killed.

All it takes is just a small disagreement and both sides will start fighting. For those who are able to have weapons, they will use whatever weapons they can lay their hands on, or those who can't, then they will use their fists.

To sum it all up, I find that these people never respect their own life, let alone others.

Who's "we"?

Islamic clerics don't want peace.
That would remove their power.

Western war mongers don't want peace.
That would make their lives empty.

Politicians with stock in war equipment manufacturing don't want peace. That would prevent their profit.

The problem is that the peaceful never rise up against the hate filled war machine. Probably because most are too susceptible to war propaganda.

Sometimes the only way to achieve peace is through war. Not everyone wants peace. The Muslim terrorists certainly don't or they would stop attacking innocent people.

It is our human condition to war, then peace, then war. It is a state of mind that, mostly men, arrive at forgoing all else for an idealogical objective.
I am resolved to saying, that's how we are. Do what you can in the circles you inhabit to bring forth peace. Hope that the cirle will widen and affect others, states, countries, .... and do so without expectation.

Not everyone wants peace, politicians and big buisiness can make a lot of money from war. The arms industry is one of the biggest in America - as is the construction industry (Haliburton anyone?) However - it does seem to be that most of the people who want war are in government. Isn't it strange how all politicians seem to be completely different from the people they represent, and ignore them - no matter how strong their voices are...

There will never be peace, anywhere, as long as humans are involved.

Conflict is an embeded part of what we are.

Sriving for peace is nice and good, and we should always do so, but we also need to realize that it will not happen.

Sometimes the chance for peace is the readiness for war.

Peace can happen only within. And once it is there, there is no difference between viewing a Tsunami and a war, both are situations where we can or cannot do something !
