You would still be buying the food in a grocery store, or even a restaurant, but you would know that the food was produced on a nearby farm, and could even visit the farm if you wanted to.

Prefer local as organic produce from outside of the country still has to be irradiated to be brought in.. Its law. The irradiation kills a lot of the vital nutrients and enzymes.

I was my veggies and fruit with soap and water to completely remove all traces of pesticides, when I can't find organic ones at the local farmers market.

Actually both! We have a lot of local organic farms nearby and other local farms. I am not stuck on organic produce, but probably half of what I buy is organic. I also gather wild raspberries and morels in the woods, when the become available. They are so much better than what you can buy in the store.

Absolutely! Going a little out of the way to eat healthier and live longer is so worth it! Organic produce is the way to go, toxic chemicals are so 80's. And if everybody supported the smaller businesses the whole world would be a better place to live.

Also visiting a farm would be a great experience to take your whole family on. I wish there were more farms closer to me!!!

I grow my own, all organic.I have 9 acres, 3 trout ponds, 6 laying hens, 2 pigs,12 meat kings,8 turkeys & worm bins for the castings.Whatever I need that I don't grow or raise myself I barter with someone who has it ,ie.(milk bread, honey, beef). I started producing my own eats when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 10 years ago. I'm 46 yrs old & feel better then I did when I was 30. Now if I could just quit drinking.....just kidding.

I prefer farmers markets myself just for the simple fact that I am supporting the "little guy".
