Is it possible for someone to have more than one gastric bypass if the first one failed? Do you know of anyone who has had it done to only see no change? I have a gf of mine who lost 40 pounds and has since stabilized there- but that was like 2 years ago- i think it may have reversed itself somehow- but since i am not a doctor i am not sure if that is even possible. Now she is thinking about having it done again?

A gastric bypass reroutes your digestive system. It can't reverse itself. Gastric banding or stapling can come undone or the stomach cavity can stretch out and allow the person to injest more food, thus stopping weight loss. Or the band can come off. Any bariatric surgeries carry great risks, like death, malnutrition, limited weight loss or too much weight loss. It is a life changing event. You will never be able to eat the same again and you will probably never have regular bowel habits again. Not a miracle cure.
