Fantastic - I go up there whenever I have time. Great people, often get the feeling of stepping back in time culturally (a more polite, mannered and welcoming society). Edinburgh is everything a capital city should be, but still quite pleasant and historic, Glasgow is great fun. The rest of the country is pretty sparsely populated (only 5 million in the whole of Scotland, with more than half of them in the central Glasgow/ Edinburgh belt), so only for those who like getting away from it all, particularly once you get up to the Highlands. The only wilderness areas in Britain - there are places where you can stand on top of a mountain and see 20 miles in all directions and feel like you're the only person there. The west coast and the islands are something else. People go to the other side of the world to New Zealand for that kind of scenery, but there it is on our doorstep. Go check it out, at least once in your life. You won't regret it.

I have traveled a lot. I liked Scotland, have been there three times. The Scots are very friendly people, and they speak English! Scenery is beautiful, fun things to do. The only problem: you have to be lucky with the weather. If it rains, and it does that quite often, it is dreary.
I would give Scotland a 7 if 10 is the best.

I'm from Scotland and I agree with everything that has been said here (apart from one person). The people in Scotland are the friendliest ever. If you look lost they will come up and ask if you need help. The scenery in the north is really breathaking. There are lots of things to see and do. The only thing is "the weather". if it rains, and it does quite frequently, its not particularly to your benefit when your siteseeing, etc. Apart from the weather, you really will love it there. I would thoroughly recommend visiting.

Never had a problem with the people and the beer is good too!
Deep fried double cheese burgers in batter with salt and sauce have to be the tastiest snack EVER lol
and scotch pies with a pint!

Scale of I to 10 the Scots get a ten for friendliness. If your visiting Scotland you'll love it. Just take lots of insect repellent - the midges are something fierce in the Highlands in Summer!

I have been to Scotland several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Highlands are full of fantastic scenery and the people are really friendly. I loved it so much, I am considering going back for my honeymoon!
My mum loved Scotland so much, she lives there now.

I've lived here in Edinburgh my whole life and find it amazing the amount of tourists we get here especially right now as the festival is on. Scotland is beautiful, but don't take my word for it, come and see for yourself.
