Why do we instill all the religious nonsense into Children??

Why do we brain wash them into faith?

You know that children are gullible and believe anything a parent says.

I was brought up C of E.

This god rubbish was instilled into everyone, everyday as if it were true.

We actually believed in Adam and Eve for gods sake.

I made my own mind up through study.

Now for every day that someone tried to brain wash me into religion, I am going to do the same against religion.

This is an arbitrary situation created in your question where you have tried to pinpoint a very important social issue. I call it arbitrary because it is not reality but an issue of the reality of our social life. The reality, in my view, is that it is not the norm. It does not happen normally and commonly in the western world. It is more likely to in societies where religious and social customs are followed blindly or dogmatically. Where what we know as a bad upbringing or a bad education is considered normal and customary.

The fact is that children need education and guidance without which they would not be able to grown into adults proper for a civilised and independent living in human society. We take great care and invest detailed considerations when we decide and choose what type of education and by who should be given to our children. The main duty is entrusted upon parents after that come teachers at school.

Now, if this duty has not been performed properly the consequences upon the mind of children can be devastating. Parents, who are illiterate or dogmatic, usually preach their child instead of teaching thus rendering them unable to explore their own mind and their self. There can be a whole lot of ill effects that a bad parenting or teaching can produce.

We normally do not, or do not like to brain wash our children. People do not teach their children any radical ideology without a reason. And what for example those reasons are should be looked into and considered relationally in a wider perspective of human living. Some of us impose lasting negative or limiting imprints upon tenderly nurturing minds of our children due to our very unique personal preferences and prejudices.

In the present age of information technology and medial intervention it is even less likely that somewhere in some society children are brain washed and ill educated due reasons not understandable by the rest of the world. But things like these do happen at all level – they can happen at a singular domestic level and it can also happen in the context of an entire society, but wherever and at whatever level this happens, is a source of serious consequences both for the victim and for the society at large.

Churchs of all colour want to get to children as soon as they can. This is why you have so many religious based schools. Generally as we get older we Question things, and can make up our own minds about the Religious miracles etc etc. I watched the primate of Ireland on a 24 hour news programme admit that Ireland was getting more secular, but the church sees the schools as a way of keeping control over the devout population. When asked if all churchs should keep out of Eduucation his answer was NO.

Ultimatly Parents are responsible, but seem to be lemmings when looking towards there own children. I went there so my brood should also....EH

Brain wash is carrying your belief to somebody's mind .It is used as a technique to change one person's view rather than imparting new knowledge.Children are born without their own opinion and what we do is TEACHING them our views and not brainwashing. We are taught what our parents believed. We are continuing the same practice. There is nothing wrong it.When children grow up they can change their faith or have no faith. All of us are being brain washed contnuously by media, politicians, radio,TV ,advertisements etc.It is nothing but telling some thing repeatedly and people will believe, like Pepsi or Colgate is good for you.Why you donot object it?Brainwashing cannot be prevented at any point of time.

Religion is not nonsense, a lot of great things are done because people believe in a higher being. As for religious wars, if faith was not the problem, something else would be. Religion also makes for a stronger sense of right and wrong and motivates people to do good things.

One other point, you should not criticise people's deeply held moderate beliefs, they do not harm anyone!

Open your mind!

P.S. I am not religous!

those video clips are actual appalling. those toddlers won't have a huge gamble to be certain the snake for what he's till that's purely too previous due. The progressives have scored fantastic victories in claiming the minds and hearts of harmless, defenseless toddlers. Their instructors ought to lose their jobs over those outrageous acts. If an attempt to try this occurs at my baby's user-friendly college, the college board will hear from me. If that doesn't artwork, they're going to hear from my lawyer.

How else do you expect us to get the beds made and the dishes done?

Really though, one of the most attracting aspects of the Baha'i Faith is that we believe that we should expose our children to as many religions and/or beliefs we can so that, when they are old enough, they can make an educated decision as to the belief that they will follow.
And it isn't just our interpretation of other religions we give them. We encourage our children to go out and search for the truth themselves. We believe wholly in the independent search for truth.

The results, amazingly enough, are young adults who are confident and assured that their beliefs are, indeed, their beliefs... whether they turn out to be Baha'is, Muslims, Christians, Agnostic, Atheist, or, even Wicca.

It's important that father's bring up their children in the mental regulating of Jehovah. But how can a parent know God if they don't study the Bible first. Sadly, many of us are brought up in our parents religion and they expect you to follow their course in that belief. It is of essance that one study the Bible and then make a choice as to what religion they will follow. The Bible will expose many traditions of men and hopefully set matters straight as to the one true religion. Think of it this way. God had only one family survive the flood. That was the only group of human beings that followed God's way and not their own. Sadly, the rest perished in the flood because they did not want to conform to God's way of thinking on matters in their lives. They became very violent and God regretted creating man to go contrary to his loving ways of loving their fellowman. That's why one way of faith was only acceptable to God. Also the Israelites were the only group of people used by Jehovah because for awhile they too followed his ways as best as they could. But, then they drifted into worshipping the ways of outside nations that were disapproved by God. So, now we have the Bible to help us make the best decision as to how we will worship. God wants us to worship him in spirit and truth. Children are brain washed by religions that are not accurate or follow traditions. Parents should not be upset if their children do not follow the families religion. If they read and study the Bible and find that their childhood religion does not teach the truth, then leave it. Even Jesus condemned the Jewish religious leaders of his day. He said they made the word of God invalid by their traditions of men. That's exactly what a lot of religions are based on today. Traditions of men. So yes, children are gullible but the Bible can help them see the truth.

I don't know if you are saying this because you don't believe in God or whatever reason. Here's the thing, I grew up Catholic and was forced to go to church (but not forced to read the Bible at home or anything). As I was growing up, I said I would not "force" religion on my children and allow them to grow up and believe what THEY want to believe. Then I realized (they were about 4 and 11 yrs), If I don't bring them to church AT ALL, where are they going to get a "base" to start with to make those decisions? In school? Let's see - there were bands called "Bad Religion" and all. No, I didn't want them to base their beliefs on things like band names and others who were angry at life, etc. I did not brain wash them. We ended up at an Episcopalian church and they were baptized together there. I chose that faith based on being raised Catholic and making up MY OWN MIND about certain things (not necessarily things my parents believed but they DID give me the basis to figure it out by myself instead of others putting things in my head). If I am going to learn anything, I would prefer to learn it from the correct source (i.e. - about the Bible - in Church ----- not on the street or by acquaintances)

We bring children up to the best of our ability and intention. Suppose your parents brought you up to believe that you were an atheist, yet you felt deep inside of you that you knew there was a higher power?

Humans teach their offspring what is familiar to them. Unfortunately we also teach them to hate, to only wear the clothing of your birth sex, that girls should be treated equally but should also be protected and can wear what ever they want even if it makes them look like whores and treat men like chattel, that men are bastards who only eat, fart, and attempt to procreate with anything that moves, and that you don't need a solid loving family were there is a dad and a mom who are committed to each other so the child can learn what he/she should do in order to have a healthy relationship and fulfilling and pass on the same love to whom ever they are attracted to.

Why must you think only faith can be brainwashed into children?.How about smoking?.If you smoke, does that means the cigarette company has brainwashed you into thinking that it's cool to smoke?.

Religion only teach you to do good in life and if teaching that to your children ,preaching if you will,is considered brainwashing, then I think you're not matured enough to differentiate the meaning of teaching something good and brainwashing.

So here's to help you

Good parents - teach good value to their children even if they do or don't involved God and religion.
