I have been with my bf for 6 years, off and on, and was wondering why wouldn't he ask to marry me? I mean I think 6 years is enough to know if you can spend the rest of your life with that person or not....right? Or am I just getting carried away and just wait....?

Why wouldn't he ask you to marry him? Why would he?
And you also don't sound so convinced about this all. Why wouldn't he? I mean...
Tell yourself the truth: do you still really love him or you are just used to him being around and it would scare you if he wasn't there anymore. Maybe new beginnings with somebody else frightens you? And maybe it is the same thing with him! That is why he is with you but saying nothing. Power of habit!

U didn't mention how old both you and your bf are. Maybe he thinks that you both are a bit too young to get married or maybe he is waiting for the right moment to propose you to marry him.
