Witchcraft and Wizardry aren't evil per se. Just like any belief system, there are people that use their knowledge to help others and people that use it to control or harm them. Christians do it too, so do Hindus, Buddhists (sorry to say, I generally like their ideas), and any other belief system you can name. Atheists and agnostics do it too. It is in the nature of humanity. Witches (now generally called Wiccans) and wizards (often the consorts of the Wiccan priestess, as I understand it) are the spiritual descendants of the original "Old Religion" that existed in Europe and the British Isles way back when before the christian missionaries arrived and killed off their priestesses and consorts and destroyed their temples. Druids are an example of this. However, much of their knowledge lived on, such as the use of herbs for medicinal treatments. Christianity also adopted/co-opted many of the Old Religion shrines and even some of their "saints". the Old Religion basically went underground and has seen some revival in recent years, while a lot of the rituals are re-creations from old writings and legends, they are still valid. OK, I found your updates. The christians burned witches for the same reason they burned other christians (heretics), because they threatened the absolute power of the church hierarchy. In those days, any disagreement with the orthodox (including healing if the priests weren't in on it -midwives were especially targeted) was totally not tolerated. The bible is full of forgeries, both the hebrew and christian testaments. There has been an explosion in the last 60 years or so of serious biblical scholarship and the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls and other ancient documents.

Two different thing my ol' son. Satan would not exist if it were not for bloody christians inventing him, yer daft ***. So your question should be "do I believe in this?" not should it be illegal. And if you do, then more fool you.
As for "witchcraft". Its generaly considered to be in harmony with nature and not against anybody unlike world religions. It is also far more likely to heal than hurt. In the past, midwifes and healers were condemned as witches by christians, and killed acordingly.
I wonder what the "saviour" would have made of that.....

Why should it be illegal? I mean, from some catholics' point of view (I would guess in the past, maybe), protestants worship the devil. Did legal or physical persecution bring about anything that was really good? Religious tolerance is one of the features of civilisation, you know; rejecting it is sliding back to barbarism. Thank you very much, I'd rather not.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

The person who worships satan is just still lost in sin and the punishment they will receive will be cast upon them in the second coming of Jesus and they will be thrown into the river of fire as it says in Revelations.

Why would worshiping Satan be a bad thing? If you believe in the bible, then Satan is actually a nice guy. God is the one that killed millions and millions of people in a great flood. God killed the first born BABIES in Egypt because their parents didn't believe as God wanted them to. (BTW, Aren't babies supposed to be innocent.) God is the one that kill thousands in the Red Sea. So let's tally up here... God has killed many millions of people, and Hmmm... Satan has killed no one... Wait, God doesn't want us to have knowledge either? Didn't Satan help us gain knowledge and God kicked us out of Eden? What kind of god wouldn't want us to learn? What kind of God would kill us? Satan should be worshiped and it should totally be illegal to worship God!

I don't believe so, because we all have the right to believe what we wish. As long as the individual doesn't actually harm anyone, they should do as they wish. Witchcraft is largely 'white' rather than 'black' and has been around a lot longer than Christianity - so we shouldn't really try and stop it!!!! I am, actually a Christian myself - but I've always been interested in what other people believe and what drives them in their belief.

Ones who worship Satan usually obey Satans rules, which are considered as "bad"..
so if one's religion contains bad habits as rules, then it gives the public to forbid that religion...
If I get to learn one is a Satanist, I might even kill him or her...
Cuz they have killed some teens in Turkey for no reason...
