Like birth defects????? Many are caused by genetics. In many, both parents have to be carriers to have a child with the defect. Some can be caused by medication/drugs taken my the mother,some occur spontaneously, others are caused by a lack of something like folic acid.
There are many reasons one could have an abnormal baby.
