My hair was a light brown maybe a dark dishwater blonde. Two days ago I bought Garnier 100% golden brown hair dye. My hair is a cinnamon reddish brown color. Can I go to the salon and have them dye it the color I want or will it cause damage to my hair if I dye it back to back like that. Please help I hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes go to the salon. it is alot easier than trying to remedy it yourself, going to the salon will not cause alot of damage to your hair, but it will cause a little, since there will be 2 chemical processes on your hair..dont stress..thats what conditioners and conditioning treatments were made for. But definately go to the salon.

Ah! Rise rinse rinse! Make sure you get all of the dye out~ then deep condition the hair with something like cream of nature or for even better conditioning use warm grape seed oil/olive oil mixed with your everyday conditioner, put it on your hair then cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour. Sally's carries a product designed to get all the dye out of hair (it won't return your hair to it's original color, but it will make sure that all of the product is out of you hair) try this if you are afraid you may not have rinsed it all out. As far as the color, do not apply more dye to your hair~ If you just dyed it, then it may be over processed already and adding more dye (even to correct it) will just further damage your hair. If the color is awful, then wear your hair up or use a dark colored styling gel to even out the color (there is the black colored gel that you can get in the ethnic hair care section of beauty supply stores). Hope this helps : )

I've been dying my hair since I was 11, and I've definetly had my share of mishaps with it. Once I was going from blonde to black and came out with leopard print on my head. lol. It's no big deal. You can go to a salon and get them to fix it. Ask them to also do a hot oil treatment on your hair afterward to repair some of the damage. It does damage your hair a little, but not that much, and as long as you're not dying your hair once a week, it's really not that big of a deal.

Jackie, have you ever considered shaving or cutting your hair and allowing it to regrow? If that is impossible or unheard of then, go to the salon and make them correction the damage for you or better still bear the hate for a little while longer (let say: three, four weeks) while your hair try to correct itself. Thus, as you wait try to wash it every day so that it could fade a lot faster.
swell day to you.

It may damage your hair, but I had a similiar problem. I dyed my hair black and it looked awful but I figured black permanent was hard as heck to get out so i went to the salon and they spent 5 hours trying to correct the situation. She tryed kaleidoscope which highlights it and that didnt work...all it did was turn my hair orange so she tryed it 3 more time and it wouldnt work so she had to put pure bleach on my hair like 2 times and it stripped it finally and it went back to my original color with highlights. It left it dry so I had to use heavy duty conditioner for awhile to get it back moisturized and soft and healthy. It winded costing me 80 dollars.

I had a similar problem, and I went back to the store, bought different dye and did it again, and my hair was fine. Just use alot of conditioner afterwards. You'll be fine. As long as you don't perm your hair or anything.

Look on your box and get the toll free number. They'll give you honest, quick, accurate response....they want every customer to be happy. If you have trashed the box, go to a store and look on the box. I've never used that brand of hair color, but every brand I've used had a phone number (toll free) to call.

chances are it'll fade before long... so just hold off for a week or two.
Also... always check for "ash" colors. if you use an ash color such as ash brown or ash blonde... you will end up with reddish results.

I use brown on mine, and it always turns red...
I recommend using L'Oreal or clairol hair colors.
