my mom passed on suddenly a year ago. i didn't attend the funeral or burial and i'm still angry about it. i need to go and visit her now. she never met my son who was a couple months old at the time. it's a terrible burden that still haunts me....

I went with my Dad to visit his mum when I was younger...I didn't fully understand when was going on but it definitely helped my Dad as he was struggling to get over it...
Funnily enough, I did talk about it with him recently; many years later...
He reckoned that by him taking the time to try to explain what was going on and ensure that I was okay with everything it helped him by making him focus on me: it stopped him from getting to maudlin and prevented him from internalising his pain...
We determined (philosophising whilst slightly drunk on the subject!) that it was a slightly selfish act for me to go with him, but he needed help at that time...maybe you do to!

Well my answer may be a little similar to Sir Ichi.Well i go to the cemetary to meet me Grandmom and Grandfather with me Dad,i think my Dad did not get to see his Father getting buried,its a poor thing,he still feels sad when talked about it.But according to your situation,i'd say your son may not understand what is going on.I would say you should go to the cemetary without your son.Since the word 'cemetary' sounds creepy to me.Hope the answer helps.

He may still be too young to understand, but you should go by yourself. Take your son back when he's older and can understand.
