NO! You're not going to be injected with anything! All they do is get the brackets, put paste and stuff on it, and they put it on your teeth. Then, they put the wire on, and you get to choose your own color.
Trust me. I have braces myself.
The only time it hurts is during the first week you have them.

I have braces, and they really aren't that bad, and they don't give you a numbing shot because putting them on doesn't really hurt :D
When they put them on, all you may feel is tightness in your mouth...but after a few hours...your mouth will feel sore, and the next day (let's just say I'd stay off of solid foods) But by the third or fourth day, you should be fine. I reccomend taking an ibeproufen to kind of numb your toothache. After about your third tightening, getting them tightened doesn't even hurt anymore. So don't worry :D

I think they put some stuff on gauze and rub it around your teeth and then they put this thing around your lips so that your mouth will stay open. Then they start glueing the things on your teeth they let those set and find the right thing for your very back tooth, put those on find a wire put it on and then they ask you for what color you would like the elastics. They put those on tell you how to keep them clean and all that stuff and then you go. It does not hurt till after you get out but take some tylonol so it will not hurt as much. Do not be scared!

No anesthesia (shot that makes you numb)
They just glue these metal appliances on your teeth and you don't feel the pain until a few hours later when your teeth are being pulled together. But it's worth the perfect smile:)

theresno shot involved in getting braces. theres might be if youre pulling out teeth but i dont really think so. ive never had teeth pulled out for braces.
the pain of braces doesnt last very long. one week isnt a long time. time really flies.

braces will only hurt when they're on (and only a little) - the actual process of having them put on shouldn't cause any pain

It's not excruciating pain. You can take some aspirin or tylenol to help. The pain is sort of a dull pain. There's nothing to fear! You're not going to die
