The Catholic church is right when it defines the dogmas of the Catholic church. Catholic beliefs are what the Catholic church says they are.
That's it. That's all the Catholic church is definitely right about.
In the past, the Catholic church has tried to presume to tell scientists what the facts of nature are. When the scientists disagreed and offered to prove otherwise, the Church persecuted them. Galileo and Giordano Bruno were two of the Church's many victims, punished because they were right when the Church was wrong.
Religious faith is not a guide to reality. It will trip you up if you really attempt to depend on it for the important things. Your belief in protective saints and angels of mercy won't protect you if you walk off a sheer mountainside.
Prayer won't alter the laws of probability and let you win gambling games. Whether God approves of such games isn't the point: the point is that prayer has no power to affect the odds.
Your faith in God won't cure you of cancer, spinal meningitis, or gonorrhea. Surgery or medicine might, but faith will not.
When the Catholic church, or any other church, is right about anything except self-referentially with its own dogmas, it's coincidence. Sometimes ignorant people will say something profound and true, just by chance (the Gilligan effect).

Cassie I wonder what do you believe right now. And why do you want to convert yourself into a catholic?
What I can say is read your bible and pray. From there God will reveal to you His own words. Remember His words are the light into our path.
I'm a christian (born again), I used to be a catholic. Maybe your wondering why. I saw and experience God when I accepted Him into my heart. And that is the best thing to do, not to convert into a religion or what so ever. Just stay where you feel God is there, where you can talk to Him, where you can feel His presence and where He hears your prayers and blesses you. And also, where you can thank, love, serve and praise Him in return. God bless you and I hope you will know the truth.

The best thing is to make sure you are listenning to God. It's a still, small voice...and you have heard it.
Take all your doubts to your local parish priest, and start attending RCIA classes. You have until next Easter to decide if God is calling you or what. There is a lot of ground to cover because Catholicism is for people who think. You can quit any time and no one will bug you.
Hang out with real Catholics who actually do things to improve the world, rather than just sitting around quoting the bible.
Here's a cool web site:

If you want to meet Christ on this earth, the only place that can happen is in a Catholic church, during a Catholic mass.
In spite of all the various claims by well meaning people on both sides of the issue, the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, which is the source and summit of all Catholic worship, must, by necessity, also be at the very center of your decision to convert to Catholicism.
If you don't feel the need to be closer to Jesus than would be otherwise humanly possible, than you don't need to be a Catholic.
If you're drawn to a close, intimate, family relationship with Christ, than Catholicism, complete with the most blessed and authentic Eucharistic sacrament, is the only faith for you.
Once you have Christ, you truly can accomplish all he has in store for you.
Without him, who knows?
Welcome!

No one can truly tell you if it's the right, or wrong religion. The thing that matters is, is it the right religion for *you*? For some people, it's not the right one. For instance my Grandpa was born a catholic, and didn't find comfort there. He became a Buddhist.
What I suggest you do, is look into other beliefs, along with the Catholic belief system. It may take more time but in the end it'll make you decide more "Is this what's right for me?"

anyone who professes to be "anti-catholic" isn't going to offer you any actual evidence, only their judgments. the same way that catholics won't offer you any evidence either.
write down what's important to you in life. whether this is education or having a family or anything else. write down what you believe in, meaning, a belief no one can shake from you. that jesus is god's son, or you have a guardian angel, any of that.
come back to your paper a few days later and revise it a little bit if you need to.
now look at what you wrote. would you be a happy catholic? does what the church teach coincide with what you already believe?
if yes, then don't listen to anyone and become catholic. if no, try to look for something else.
if you base your decision on what others tell you, it won't be your choice in the end. you already know what being catholic is about. either its you or it isn't. no one else can make that decision for you.

It has been standing for 2000 years. Many have been prosecuted, tortured and martyred yet it still stands.
In history, the Catholic Church also commited a lot of faults, and I tell you they are many! I never knew it before Pope John Paul II asked for forgiveness for the sins the Catholic Church has done.
If you want to be inspired to join, read Pope John Paul II's biography. He is such an impact to me.

If your looking for rock solid, only the bible can give you that.
All religion can be torn down. Have faith and make your own decision and stand up for what you believe. No religion is perfect and gets negative feedback from some people.
Love your family, love God more and do what you know is right. Its that feeling inside of you that keeps leading you.

Everything you heard that is wrong, is and vice versa. The best thing for you to do is just look at your personal relationship with God. Will you go to purgatory when you die? Or will you go to straight to heaven or hell. Do you need to confess your sins to a priest? Or can you speak directly to God?
The bottom line is that everything in the universe is in you,i.e. iron, carbon, nitroxide. And everything comes from God. God is already in you. Religion is just one of his many tools for you to be more "in his image" (or Her). Picture religion being as a walking stick while you are hiking up a the mountain of life. You don't need the stick to see the mountain top, nor will the stick bring you food and water. But it does help with journey.
So please don't be to caught up in "What is the right religion" thing. Life it self is your religion. You know right from wrong. You don't need some old man on a mountain with tablets to tell. Plus, you know God. And Getting close to him is all that matters.
