No - don't be mean. If he wants a tattoo, let him go ahead and get one. What about one of those really classy spiders webs that start on the shoulder and climb up over the neck and face? Nice!

yes he is too young!
apart from the problems of taste changing a lot thought your life time, (people regret things they had done at 18 let alone things they liked at 10, I've covered things people did to themselves at 14 - 16 with needles and pen ink,)
in my experience your tastes change so often throughout your teenage years.
he still has too much growing to do.
if you were stupid enough to let him do it his body is going to change shape far too much over the next 8 - 14 years for it to look the same.
it's like if you draw something on a balloon then blow it up, it'd end up distorted and faded by the time he's even 13!
you should tell him if he can keep an idea he wants next to his bed so he has to look at it every day for the next 8 years if by the end of that he still loves he'll know he will more than likely love it in 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 years time till he dies. never any point rushing in to things whatever age you are.
also you'd probably have the school investigate you with the child services. and it would probably be considered as child abuse and assault for you and the person who would do it.
also no good tattoo artist would do this so they're either not good anyway so i wouldn't go to them or a mate who should know better. any tattoo artist who would tattoo a 10 year old needs to get closed down because they should know the reasons not to do it.

I don't know. How old is the guy doing the inking? I'd probably find another tattoo artist if this guy is quite young & has only done a couple of tattoos. Friend or no friend, a tattoo is for life. You want it to be of good quality, and not look like something that was done in the jail yard.
Also, once you've decided on the artist, I'd have your kid choose a small design. Something that can be changed into another image later on. Kids are notorious about changing their minds, & s/he might outgrow whatever image they choose now. You know like when you paint a little girl's room pink, by the time she's 15 she wants to paint it black, that sort of thing.
Of course, you can never go wrong with a classic like 'Mother' written inside of a heart.

Just a bit!!
The whole point of age limits, is that in theory you should be old enough to make an informed decision.
I was a completely different person when I was 10 then I am now. I probably would have got a My Little Pony tattoo and imagine how stupid I would feel now!
They cost A LOT of money to get removed as well.
Plus, imagine what his teachers would say?? I dind't think kids were even allowed to wear transfer to school!

How can you not know the answer to your question. Your son is is 10 so therefore he has the mind of a 10 year old. Does he still believe in Santa Clause? The Easter Bunny? Or is that what he wants a tattoo of. If you do anything, get him a water based tattoo or a rubber stamp. But nothing perminant.

i hope your not really considering this, he's way way way too young. i think 18 is even too young to make a forever decision like a tattoo. i am 23 and i wanted a tattoo when i was 18 and 19, and i'm so glad i didn't get one, because i'm so different now, and it's only been a few years. i would have probably gotton a stupid typical butterfly or something then, and now i would die if i had one.
i am getting my first and only tattoo in october, i'm getting married and my fiance and i are getting je t'adore tatttoos in hidden places, mine on my right hip and his on his heart.
i know of a girl who got a tattoo when she was 12, and it's the stupidest thing i've ever seen, especially now that she's 19

Stunned...
Oh course he is way way too young... this is from someone who is very open minded and likes tattoos...
Tattoos are PERMINANT... ie whats he into age ten?
Pokeymon?
Imagine how embarrased he would be to have that on him age 18?
The point of age limits is he will know what he is doing and really want one and it will mean something...
Age limits are flexibvle by a year or two but not 10...
Get ghim fake ones or better still henna... You can always renew it... see how long he renews it for(last 3 weeks)... before bored only if it was for real he would be stuck with it...
So fake tattoos and henna thats what they are there for but no tattoos for real till much older.

DONT BE SO SILLY!!!!!! There is a legal age limit and its most defiantely NOT 10. Ive got 2 but that was when I was 18, it did hurt but I could handle the pain. Do you really think your son could cope with a needle going in his arm over and over again?
I think you should tell your mate to look at the situation and do you both really want to be subjected to Social Services and have him taken away from you.
Think about what is best - being firm and making your son wait till the age of 18 when he will be at the legal age, or do it now and be reported for harming your child and possible having him taken away?
Explain the situation to your son. My brother was his age and he wanted one, mam told him to wait, hes got 3 years left and is still eager. My mam gave him the bubblegum tattoos and he thought he was great, try your son with them.
I know everyone here will be fuming at the thought of you considering this but they are only looking out for your son, and for you as they dont want you to loose him.
Hope you make the right choice

You must be a very intelligent women, who in there right mind would say yes to a 10 year old getting a tattoo, you should have standards for your child and the actions that you allow him to take with your permission, this is not going to help when he is able to make decisions by himself.Parenting is hard and you are supposed to be the sane one with the knowledge of a parent not a friend.

Okay, I am all for tattooes, in fact I just got one 2 weeks ago, but at 10? You don't know anything at 10! He may decide in the next 8 years that tatooes are wrong, and who is he going to blame? You!
They hurt like hell, do you have any? Why would you put your child through that. Besides where I live it is illegal to do it if you are under 18!
Get him a bucket full of temporaries to experiment with for the next 8 years...

He is absolutely WAY too young to get a tattoo at 10 years of age. Have you ever thought of the consequences of what it will cost to remove if he gets round in a few years time to saying that he doesn't like it???
That can turn into a few thousand dollars for laser treatment to remove a tattoo, and it hurts like hell. Make him wait until he is 18, by which time in the eyes of the law, he will be old enough to make a decision for himself, and then on his own head be it!!!!
