This is one of those questions that have so many good answers that have good points but no right answer. You have to make your choice.
In a container with dirt and leaves. If you do this you need to take the leaves and dirt from the exact area you hunt, but you need to worry about the dirt and leaves rotting.
If you invest in an air tight container not much for drawbacks other than they take up lots of space (which I do not have.) Also you are able to place the scent waffers in there.
For me the only thing is PROPER scent control. I leave my clothes on my enclosed back porch all year until I am ready to use. Then I wash in Scent Killer and leave outside. Also wash after every use. And in the field I use scent killer spray. I have all the scent killer products for my skin and hair as well. I have no problems with game smelling me either. I do not use any cover scents. And the only lure scents I use are during the rut I use buck lure.
If you have cedar trees where you hunt you can always use a cedar chest.
Like I said this is one you need to chose that is right for you.

Ideally you would want to put them in an airtight bag. No scent of any kind mixed in. But if you want to keep them fresh and scent free from anything that would contaimenate the smell of the area where you hunt, you would then want to mix in some natural folige from that area to store with them.
I prefer to use a large plastic box with a snap on tight lid. Their cheap and they keep out the contaimenants. I usually wash my clothes in scent free soap, and dry with a Dirt smell dryer sheet. Then I buy the dirt (natural earth) scented wafers and throw them in the tub with the clothes. This will keep them fresh and scent free for many weeks.
If you wear the clothing multiple times a week and are perspiring in them, you'll want to wash them more often and store accordingly.
The other plus of using the box, is that I can change in the field and not have to drive in my car with them on.
If your a smoker, then you can forget anything I just stated above. Cause it won't matter.
I find that when I do this the animals that I chase don't have a clue I am even there. Even if they wind me, I find they don't get that nervous when it happens. They seem leary for a bit then just relax.

Yes that would be a good idea or just store them in the closet and when hunting season comes around just wash your hunting clothes in baking soda. Its supposed to get rid of any human scents that let animals know your coming.

Wash them with no scent detergent and depending on what kind of hunting you do you can seal them in a vacuum bag or a trash bag with the leaves and some of the dirt from where you hunt, check for bugs first. you are creating your own cover scent this way. just try to keep the human contact low.

Actually, the leaves are a good idea, you don't want to hunt in aftershave or dryer scented clothing, unless your hunting animals without noses. Get them dry cleaned and hang them in the closet with the plastic still on them so they won't pick up that nasty dryer oder again from your regular clothing.

Ok, I have no business answering this question because I have no idea. But, I was interested in knowing why you would put them in a bag with leaves. Why not just hang them up in your closet? I'm sure you can tell I've never been hunting before.

Hey Brother!I store mine in a large rubber maid container I purchased at K-mart.I have a separate one for duck and goose hunting because I use a dog.But for deer hunting, I stick a scent wafer in with my clothes, it doesn't take any room and makes your clothes smell like dirt. And for all those little minded, tree huggin, cry babies out there, who think it's so wrong to hunt.try looking at yourself for a sec. Leather shoes, purses, jackets, and a large percentage of that wonderful make-up you use, where do ya suppose that comes from? And why would any one take morality advise from someone with the name gothic_chic?

When my husband hunted, I used to wash his clothes separately with laundry soap with no scent. Then I would air dry the clothes (either outdoors or indoors). We would store the clothes separately, not in plastic, in his work shop area in the basement along with his sleeping bag, etc. I don't know about the leaves, doesn't sound like the greatest idea to me.....
