Police officers are subject to the same laws as anyone else. Admittedly, the law may not be enforced equally, but it is written to apply equally. Laws vary from state to state and city to city. Unless prohibited specifically by ordinance or law, and unless he was exhibiting reckless behavior that could be associated with his using a cell phone while driving, he may not have actually broken any laws. My department has a strict rule about operating a vehicle on duty and talking on a cell phone. You can get cut off at the knees if you do talk on a cell phone without a handsfree device, and even then it has to be directly related to your job. God help the officer who has an accident while on a cell phone. If you feel it was reckless, then call and ask to speak to the senior officer on duty concerning a complaint. You may not (well, probably not) get anywhere. Most departments do keep a log of complaints, even if it does not go into a personel file, and these logs can be accessed to establish a past history of bad behavior by an officer, and are legally discoverable in a lawsuit. It all depends on whether or not the officer you lodge the complaint with is scrupulous enough to log the incident.

It's not worth the price of the phone call, if the police can shoot an Innocent person and be back at work within a few weeks, if the police can allow someone to die in custody and nothing is done, do you really think that reporting an officer for using a mobile phone while driving is going to result in any action?

It may not have been a mobile phone. The new(ish) Tetra secure digital radio system now used ny the police has handsets which are very similar to Mobiles.

Still if you want your life to be full of unecceasry excitement, being stopped at odd hours, aasked to assist with police enquiries, then go on, report then incident and see what happens.

yes if it was one of us an we had to answer it for an emergency we would be fined, yet some of us on the road could probably drive better with a mobile phone to our ear than what most old people can drive at all. i know this goes off the subject of the question but i do think that some rules of the law are completely stupid when it comes to driving. Back to the question yes nothin will get done anway.

Think about it for a second- police cars have CB radios in them to coordinate affairs. They use the radios while they're driving, as that's a necessary thing to do. Because cops aren't in the habit of holding entire conversations over the CB network, any punishment isn't likely to be severe as the police would merely be talking too long.

By all means report it, just don't expect a hanging.

Well if you report him, it will only be his word against yours unless you have photographic evidence and an independent witness. Hey, we see these kind of negligent drivers every day and personally they make me cringe as they are an accident waiting to happen.
But if you do report this police person, don't forget to mention the bacon sarnie that he had in the other hand, the cup of coffee between his legs, the map on the steering wheel and the open aftershave bottle that he was just about to splash on ..........

Report the policeman in the nearest police station where you saw him violating traffic rules. If you do not want to be identified, just send an anonymous letter. The Internal Affairs will investigate the offender whom you reported.

Well, I hate to tell you, but cops today need those cell phones and are required to use them. A cop will answer a call for service and deal with it by phone while going to his next call.

How did you get the registration? Did you take it out of his glove box?

What you would be able to desire to comprehend in terms of this question is the way the Sidekick works. maximum telephones keep contacts and information and so on suitable on the telephone, by using assessment what the Sidekick does, is keep this recommendations on a server, and each and each time you cost the telephone it re-downloads this information back on your telephone. So, confident you need to use it as a telephone no count if it is unlocked, despite if, records won't artwork on it because of fact it demands a particular provider that's propriety to Tmobile, and likewise you will likely no longer have the means to maintain any form of information on the telephone. additionally sprint makes use of CDMA, whilst the Blackberry is a GSM telephone. actually it means the telephone does not have what's mandatory to talk with the community, that's like attempting to place a sq. peg in a around hollow

Waste of time...I live near a police station and you see them frequently driving highly dangerously to/from work, cutting up traffic as they go. Who's going to stop them? Forget it. Accept that they are above the law and get on with your life! Can anyone tell me... in the history of the police has anyone of them reported themselves for dangerous driving?
